Ted is an engineer by training and a cell biologist at heart. Sometimes when @GatlinLab and I would speak with Ted we swore that when he closed his eyes he was seeing the 3D structure of the spindle or kinetochore in his mind - rotating, zooming, and pulling on it.

Congratulations to Ted Salmon and Kerry Bloom on their election to the National Academy of Sciences on the same day! It was a privilege to pursue research in such a wonderful environment (6th Floor Fordham Hall) for cell biologists and cytoskeleton enthusiasts.
