I finally made the choice that I won't be political in my Twitter feed due to many outside circumstances between those I follow, the implications of what is said in Twitter, and the future of Twitter. Only game analysis and news. Maybe comedy with friends.

China’s game industry continues to show maturity with only modest gains (domestic Q3 revenue +1.36% ). It's made over ¥925.22B this past quarter. This hasn’t been a major issue as the market still made more money overall (+5.11% YoY), supported by the summer season, strong live-ops on evergreen titles, and solid overseas growth (+15.58% YoY). mp.weixin.qq.com/s/-dXn0_emC…

Looks like PS5 prices are going up soon...
NOT EVEN THE PLAYSTATION 5 IS SAFE 🚨 Someone jailbroke a PS5 and got Qwen 3.8 27B running on its GPU at 20 tok/s. That's a real 27B AI model running locally on a games console. The same model on the PS5's CPU did about one token a minute. Meanwhile, DDR4 prices are up 24% in 3 months, AMD just raised GPU memory prices, and 5090s are basically gone. PS5 coming to a datacenter near you.

For the cost vs expectations, we are running into a wall. – at West Lake Stevens, WA
Former PlayStation boss, isn’t convinced gamers will be willing to spend around $1,000 on PS6 or Xbox’s Project Helix if the upgrades are mostly technical. He says that simply adding more ray tracing, higher TFlops, and better graphics may not be enough to make people reach into their pockets for another expensive console. “I don’t know if that message resonates to the consumer to reach into their pocket and pull out $1,000.” Layden says console upgrades used to feel much more dramatic, comparing the jump from PS1 to PS2 to moving from VHS to DVD. Today, the difference between generations can be much harder to notice. “Has technology reached some kind of plateau?”

Reminds me that still some gamers don't accept how big the mobile game market is and how many games making the most money are games like Candy Crush Saga, Farmscapes, and Gossip Harbor. These games were designed for a mostly women audience. It disappoints, but I remember 20 years ago women gamer clans were called innovative, so progress is moving forward. – at North Korea

Many people ask me why I feel there is a slowdown in China. There are many examples, but as someone in the Chinese game industry, I look at some obvious ones. One topic many in economics are discussing today is oversaturation, meaning we have reached the saturation point for some items. And in gaming, we are hitting that saturation point. I look at mobile gaming data a lot, and one thing that stuck with me is that the double-digit gains we saw among gamers have shrunk to single digits, then to less than 2% growth/loss. This tells me that, with profits from domestic sales slowing here in China, we are hitting growth limits. I know this is just one number, but seeing this, with how some are saying 90% of people have houses and consumer growth is becoming stagnant, gives me some confidence to say we are at a limit. So the question becomes: Now what? There are a lot of answers that I feel are pretty wrong here on X.

Enjoyed my trip to Keifeng this weekend. Felt like the city was built for 2x the people with many apartments empty and construction on some buildings shut down on the main road but the parks were fun. – at North Korea
