Today, MEDSAR Rwanda joined the Rwanda Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (@rsog_rwanda) and partners for the “Run for Her: End PPH Campaign” during Car Free Day, raising awareness and strengthening advocacy to end preventable maternal deaths caused by postpartum haemorrhage (#PPH). Every step is a commitment to safer childbirth, stronger maternal healthcare, and a future where no woman loses her life from a preventable complication. Today, MEDSAR Rwanda convened its 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 & 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, bringing together current leaders and Alumni to exchange experiences, share guidance, and collectively shape the future of our association. The summit provided an opportunity to reflect on our 2026–Present Mandate, present our achievements and ongoing initiatives, and share our plans and priorities for the road ahead—reaffirming our commitment to a stronger, more impactful, and sustainable MEDSAR Rwanda. 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: We presented updates on the progress and preparations for MEDSAR Rwanda’s hosting of the 𝗜𝗙𝗠𝗦𝗔 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 – 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟳, highlighting our ongoing efforts, key milestones, and commitment to delivering a successful international gathering that will strengthen Rwanda’s visibility and contribute to the global medical students’ movement. 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒𝐀𝐑 𝐚𝐭 𝟑𝟎 — 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕! As we approach our 30th Anniversary, we exchanged ideas on celebrating three decades of leadership, service, and impact—honouring our history, recognizing generations of contributions, reconnecting Alumni, and inspiring the future. 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐒𝐀𝐑 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 & 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝: Our discussions explored ways to strengthen member engagement, build leadership capacity, nurture future leaders, and sustain meaningful Alumni connections. Today, MEDSAR Rwanda joined @MDFC_Rwanda , @HDIRwanda , healthcare providers, young people, @KarongiDistr , partners, and community members in Karongi District to commemorate International Safe Abortion Day 2026 under the theme, “Solidarity in Action: Advance Reproductive Justice and Urgently Strengthen Health Systems for Comprehensive Abortion Care.” Through dialogue, performances and shared experiences, the celebration highlighted the importance of access to accurate information, respectful and confidential care, legal literacy, and quality sexual and reproductive health and rights (#SRHR) services particularly for adolescents and young people. As youth and future health professionals, we recognize the vital role healthcare providers play in ensuring that people seeking safe abortion care are treated with dignity, compassion and respect. We also believe that meaningful collaboration among young people, healthcare workers, communities, government institutions and civil society is essential to strengthening health systems and advancing reproductive justice. MEDSAR Rwanda remains committed to empowering young people with knowledge, amplifying their voices and promoting a health system where everyone can access the information, services and support they need.
