On the Intl Day of the Indigenous Peoples, the 🇪🇺 reaffirms its support for Indigenous Peoples within and beyond the 🇪🇺 borders, and to protect and fulfil their rights as set out in the 🇺🇳 Decl on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and under intl human rights law.
Indigenous Peoples continue to face discrimination that limits their access to healthcare, education and economic opportunities. Indigenous women are among the most affected. For generations, Indigenous midwives have preserved life-saving knowledge and practices that continue to protect those in their care. Honouring Indigenous People’s heritage also means recognising the leadership role of Indigenous women who carry it.
