In this @GNET_research Insight, I explain Moscow Oblast school knife attacker’s hybrid radicalisation pathway, where elements of a structured far-right doctrinal framework intersect with selectively adopted fragments such as symbols, slogans, rituals, & scripts of similar attacks
Nodirbek Soliev analyses the #MoscowOblast School Stabbing by examining how the personal grievances of the attacker and his exposure to ideological bricolage drawn from Western far-right milieus contributed to this case of deadly performative violence. gnet-research.org/2026/01/19…

"What begins as an American, largely online phenomenon, thus becomes a portable script for violence that can be adopted by teenagers in any country with the same platforms and subcultures." Tremendous work by Valdemar Balle for @GNET_research. gnet-research.org/2026/01/05…

Our colleagues Marten Risius and Christopher David have published new insights on how conflicting views on the role of women are creating ideological fractures within Stormfront – often described as the “murder capital of the internet.” 1/2

As Pakistan battles climate change, floods, and governance gaps, groups like TTP, IMP, and IS exploit these crises while using technology. I explore the climate narratives of militants, their transnational approach to the global crisis. For @GNET_research gnet-research.org/2025/11/03…

"In these ways, digital technologies do not merely enable abuse. Instead, they constitute the infrastructure of everyday extremism" - a great piece on the overlap between extremism, tech, and gender
Digital infrastructures enable everyday gender-based extremism, argues @DrSeyounPark. By spotlighting South Korea’s molka and Nth Room, Dr Park analyses how platforms and design features co-produce environments that monetise & normalise misogynistic harm. gnet-research.org/2025/10/15…

Really terrific analysis by @AndaIulia in @GNET_research, analyzing a barely-covered terrorist attack in Finland that encapsulated several accelerating trends in terrorism, from youth radicalization to misogyny to the use of artificial intelligence.
Today, @AndaIulia provides an overview of the recent stabbing attack in #Pirkkala, Finland. She analyses the perpetrator’s alleged manifesto and its links to misogynistic incel ideology, as well as the role of Generative AI in crafting the document. gnet-research.org/2025/06/12…

It was an absolute pleasure to participate in GNET's Annual Conference! I'm honoured to have been able to discuss extremism with such excellent panelists and to hear so many interesting discussions about how to study extremism online.
We were thrilled to have our third and final panel of speakers present on Multi-Media Radicalisation and the Online-Offline Extremism Nexus. This panel covered an ideological range - from the far right, extremist misogyny and gaming, to the Islamic State.
