No lobbying or media offensive campaigns can substitute for a credible national development strategy. Rwanda will continue to pursue its ambitions. The real question is not why Rwanda is succeeding, but why its success provokes such hostility from a neighbor whose citizens also deserve progress and prosperity. F1 in Rwanda will not be an event. It's a whole generation inspired and changed. Yoto Fabrice, a Rwandan rally driver, sits down with Poliscoop after Formula 1 confirmed an African Grand Prix will come to Rwanda in the 2030s. He talks about growing up in a motorsport family, the cost and challenges of the sport, what F1 means for Rwanda and the continent, training the next generation including women in motorsport, the academy he is building, and racing his national championship rally alongside his young sister as co-driver.

LEWIS HAMILTON’S DREAM OF AN AFRICAN GP IS COMING TRUE! 🌍🇷🇼 🗣️ “I’ve always said we need a Grand Prix in Africa. For me, it’s the most important and most beautiful continent.” Hamilton also praised Rwanda, describing it as “spectacular” and somewhere he could imagine living. Now that the scammer is feeling the pressure, with numerous reports emerging from Kinshasa exposing looting, embezzlement, and corruption under #Tshisekedi. This self-styled lobbyist @batten_von has failed to defend his client, Tshisekedi. After all, he has to prove that the money Tshisekedi paid him to polish his image internationally was put to good use. Instead, he has reduced himself to a cheap propagandist. @RevColeman @amluzayamo @xtr_africa
Congolese reporters seem to have unfortunately misunderstood the facts in the @nytimes article referenced below. According to the article, $17.6 million was transferred from a DRC government account to TX-AT, a Texas-based defense and security firm that supplies defense equipment to U.S. and international law enforcement agencies. The DRC is fighting a war involving Rwanda and #M23, so a transaction with an American defense supplier is not, in itself, unusual. We need more of this. The problem is that TX-AT is now linked to a brewing scandal in D.C. And despite attempts by President @PaulKagame's agents and allies to connect the DRC to this controversy, the payment itself does not establish wrongdoing by the DRC government. Just as you are not responsible for how your landlord spends your rent money, the DRC is not responsible for how an American company spends funds received for military equipment. The DRC is fighting for its survival, and misinformation is President @PaulKagame's favorite weapon. Congolese journalists must avoid unintentionally spreading misinformation that could be used to discredit the DRC before the United States Congress and the world. Report the facts. It might save your country. @realDonaldTrump @Presidence_RDC @HouseForeignGOP @HouseForeign @SenateForeign @SFRCdems @SecRubio @StateDept @FelixUdps @AsstSecStateAF @CNN @AP @washingtonpost @Reuters @BBCAfrica

@amluzayamo @Nevesbabe

Mu kiganiro #NewsDay cya #BBC , minister @nmukazayire yagarutse kuri Formula 1 agira n'icyo avuga ku bayihuza ba Sportwashing .👇👇👇 Journalist: How do you respond to that charge that this is sports washing, that Rwanda has a very, very, very poor human rights record, but you're trying to show another side to the country through sports? Minister: I think such kind of thinking and questioning is really old, old and outdated. Because today if you look at the sport industry, globally fast growing industry, you look at the sector, if you look at Africa today, only 0.5 of sports is representing GDP in Africa, while abroad it's at 2%. Why would we in Africa or Rwanda or other countries look at opportunities and tap into the opportunities and they become sports watching while in the rest of the world they see that as visionary thinking, they see that as growth. So I think when we do that, we are also linking and looking at how we grow our economies. We look at the opportunity that is in the sport industry. We move with the future, and we move where there are benefits. Journalist: But growth could also come with freedoms, more political freedoms at home, could it not? Why are the two incompatible? Minister: Absolutely no! One does not stop the other. And actually, you cannot be able to move and be able to develop your country and be at the position where we are 32 years only after the genocide against the Tutsi, when your people, when your country is not moving in the right direction. So I believe those are double standard ways of looking at our economies at Rwanda, at Africa, which we think is high time that we move and show the potential that Africa has, which we have proven so many times and we are ready to prove also in early 30s.
