Young men,
Don't sign up for FanDuel or Draft Kings or whatever the fuck. Earn a living; don't forfeit your money to the vultures. Their castles weren't built on the backs of winners.

The longer you operate in the YouTuber space, the more you see how it really works, not just the algorithm, but the people.
Being friendly with another creator doesn’t mean you’re friends, especially if you’re not doing this full-time. For some, it’s a business first. That means you’re not a friend, you’re a collaborator, a contact, or a potential asset.
It took me longer than it should have to learn that wanting to see the best in people doesn’t change the nature of the environment. If you’re not considered “in,” the relationship is transactional, and transactional relationships end the moment you’re no longer useful or perfectly aligned.

It’s still better than wasting years of your life talking about what you’re going to do. The only real competition is yourself.

If you learn to shoot and edit, it's far easier to get around the "gatekeepers" and green light your own micro-budget film. A lot of filmmakers get stuck trying to raise money to cover camera and post costs. If you can eliminate those bottlenecks, you're already way ahead.

Advice for screenwriters looking to direct:
It’s easy to be a perfectionist on the page - but impossible on set.
You don’t have to deviate from what you’re saying, but you often have to deviate from how you’re saying it.
Embrace the unknown.
