APIL's new research report - The Justice Gap Facing Victims of Negligence - is out now: apil.org.uk/publications/the… This is a bespoke report bringing together findings from our in-house research team. It highlights the growing barriers faced by injured people seeking redress, the extent to which the justice gap is widening, and the consequences for individuals, families and society. This report will provide a strong evidence base for our continuing engagement with policymakers, parliamentarians, stakeholders and the media. It will reinforce our key messages on access to justice, demonstrate the cumulative impact of recent reforms, and support our calls for meaningful change.

West Dunbartonshire is among the UK’s worst hotspots for asbestos-related cancer deaths from exposure at work, with 340+ deaths since 1980. I led a debate last night on asbestos-related cancer, calling for reform of the 2006 Compensation Act to include non-mesothelioma cases.

Medicine and public health have added three decades to the human lifespan. Vaccination alone produced 40% of the reduction in child deaths. And now a disturbed and unqualified man driven by crackpot theories is destroying the foundations of this work, including CDC.
RFK JR: I’m looking at kids as I walk through the airports today...and I see these kids that are just overburdened with mitochondrial challenges, inflammation—you can tell from their faces, movements, and lack of social connection

If you watch one thing today make it this remarkable speech by an independent French senator. It captures the moment @ClaudeMalhuret

Important milestone for abuse survivors. Removing barriers to justice is vital for giving people the recognition they deserve - and also holding perpetrators accountable. Well done to all at @APIL for their work on this campaign.

A strong defence bar can only increase the efficiency of the courts, with more lawyers meaning more cases able to be dealt with more quickly, but the government seems unable to grasp this. As a result, courts descend into chaos as the criminal bar withers on the vine.
