It has taken 7 years and 10 months, 42 prosecution witnesses, and 81 exhibits presented by the ODPP for justice for Sharon Otieno to finally arrive.
Today, as Sharon's family sat in court to hear the verdict, we were reminded of the immense cost of justice delayed.
While we commend the prosecution, justice must not take nearly a decade. Across Kenya, from young girls to grandmothers, women continue to be lost to a horrific wave of femicide.
Our police, ODPP, and courts must bring the same rigor, urgency, and commitment to every case. not only those that attract national attention. We must all to our part to end the killing of women.

For the past few years, I’ve poured so much of myself into my community. I’ve volunteered, organized, shown up, created opportunities, and supported people whenever I could. None of that changes because I’m the one asking for help today.

Our Executive Director Nate Brown joined global health experts, policymakers, and civil society leaders in Berlin for the Global Health Talk 2026 from 7-8 July. This annual convening of the Global Health Hub Germany brings together voices from across government, academia, and civil society to shape the future of global health policy.
Nate was part of the panel 'Beyond Biology: How Gender Norms Shape Health Systems and Outcomes', a conversation that is important in PAI's work and the broader LGBTIQ+ rights landscape. Resilient health systems cannot be built without confronting the gendered and structural inequalities that determine who gets care, who gets excluded, and whose lives are treated as an afterthought.

Notre directeur exécutif, Nate Brown, s’est joint à des experts en santé mondiale, des décideurs politiques et des responsables de la société civile à Berlin à l’occasion du Global Health Talk 2026, qui s’est tenu les 7 et 8 juillet. Ce rassemblement annuel organisé par le Global Health Hub Germany réunit des acteurs issus des pouvoirs publics, du monde universitaire et de la société civile afin de façonner l’avenir des politiques de santé mondiale.
Nate a participé à la table ronde intitulée « Au-delà de la biologie : comment les normes de genre façonnent les systèmes de santé et les résultats sanitaires », un débat essentiel pour le travail de PAI et, plus largement, pour la défense des droits des personnes LGBTIQ+. Il est impossible de mettre en place des systèmes de santé résilients sans s'attaquer aux inégalités de genre et structurelles qui déterminent qui a accès aux soins, qui en est exclu et dont la vie est considérée comme secondaire.

Nate integrou o painel «Para além da biologia: como as normas de género moldam os sistemas de saúde e os resultados», um debate importante para o trabalho da PAI e para o panorama mais alargado dos direitos LGBTIQ+. Não é possível construir sistemas de saúde resilientes sem enfrentar as desigualdades de género e estruturais que determinam quem recebe cuidados, quem é excluído e cujas vidas são tratadas como algo secundário.

My Heartfelt Condolence and Eulogy

Bishop Emeritus of West Buganda,
I never had the chance to meet you in person, but I still feel deep sadness at your passing. Your inclusive gospel and your warm embrace of the LGBTIQ+ touched many hearts. In a time when so many religious leaders pushed LGBTIQ+ people away, you stood firm. You welcomed many with open arms and always made it clear that LGBTIQ+ people are also beloved children of God.
You showed the world what true faith is. Instead of becoming an obstacle that keeps people from God, you opened the door wide. You spread a gospel that includes everyone. To many LGBTIQ+ believers, you became a safe refuge, a bishop who supported them, walked with them, and took part in various LGBTIQ+ programmes. Your courage and kindness gave hope to those who felt rejected by the Church.
I am truly grateful for your faithful service and your loving, inclusive gospel. Thank you for everything you did. To those who met you and felt your warm embrace in person, your memory will remain a blessing.
May you rest in perfect peace.
May the sweet and beautiful memories your family shared with you give them strength and comfort as they grieve your passing.
