This…as an almost 60 year old man, I appreciate Lee’s example on how to age joyfully and Kirk’s example on how to love unwaveringly. Not only should we not look away; we should appreciate the lessons being taught.
I know some people want ESPN to take Lee Corso off GameDay, but it still clearly brings him happiness and it’s been really cool to see guys like Kirk Herbstreit look after him over the last couple of years.

I will always remember. On this anniversary, my thoughts are with everyone impacted by the terror we witnessed.

On Labor Day this first generation college graduate is thankful for the @UAW job at @Chrysler my dad had that provided the shoulders upon which my middle class life stands. Labor is valuable and everyone deserves fair compensation for it.

As I have reflected a bit in my remembrance on this 80th anniversary of D-Day, I remembered President Reagan’s speech in my 20th year and I watched President Biden’s speech today. I continue to try to wrap my arms around the enormous shoulders we stand upon. We owe so, so much.

My friends ⁦@Apple⁩ reminded me that 8 years ago today the entrance facade on the old #Olney school began to be removed by the masonry geniuses at ⁦@rlgbuilds⁩ for reinstallation in the new ⁦@RangerRoundup⁩ school that opened in 2018. Time flies.

This @tigers offense is tough on us fans. Glad I like wine. I might have to open another bottle.

Is there anything better than the first asparagus of the season cut from the backyard garden?

This happened when I was young, but I remember it. I’m guessing because my parents talked about it. My mom grew up in a coal camp so it probably struck close to home for her at the time.
In 1972 a Pittston Company coal-waste dam collapsed. Sludge, debris, and water tore through the valley below, leaving in its wake 125 dead and 4,000 homeless. The Pittston Company, however, continued to deny any wrongdoing, maintaining that the disaster was an “act of God."

I just looked at my most recent posts. My interactions here have declined. I don’t enjoy this place like I once did, but I like it better if I stay away from “for you”. Hmmm…

Great info for everyone, but especially those of us living on the drained wetlands of America.
Have you ever wondered about the wide-scale draining of wetlands that took place in 18th and 19th century America? If so, you're in luck! Read all about it in our latest blog post, "Draining America." The full post is available online here: blogs.loc.gov/maps/2024/02/d…

I’m going to be out of town for business on Election Day. So I voted by mail. The Board of Elections website shows they have accepted my ballot to be counted. What is your plan to make sure your “voice” contributes to the governing of our republic?

I recall from 1981 my WWII vet history teacher’s passion for insisting we understand the importance of 12/7/41. We didn’t. My 16 year old son won’t understand the ceremony at his school today in the way I would like either. As we remember today, have compassion for the young.
