This question on 2023 SATS paper is clearly wrong @educationgovuk You cannot put a square number on the line. You’ve obviously realised this so have put an option in the mark scheme whereby children can cross out a part of the question. Every child deserves compensatory mark.

Too much regrouping can get tricky & with so much going on mistakes can easily be made. Has anyone got method 2 in their calculation policy? I wonder if representing with negative numbers will stop children saying " 3-5, you can't do it!"

One of those this is " my why" moments today. Running an after school @FunkeyMaths session and a child goes I notice all these are even absolute break through with this child who couldn't tell what an even number was 3 months ago and using the sentence stems of I notice ! #mywhy
