بنا بر گفته منابعی در ایران که با آن‌ها گفت‌وگو کرده‌ایم، صداهای موافق حمله در سپاه پاسداران بلندتر شده است. جناح تندرو خواهان حمله به اسرائیل است. گزینه دیگری که بررسی می‌شود، هدف قرار دادن زیرساخت‌های نفتی در امارات و کویت و شاید عراق، برای بالا بردن قیمت جهانی انرژی است.
در حال حاضر تمایل به حمله وجود دارد، اما هنوز تصمیم نهایی درباره هدف، زمان و حتی اصل حمله گرفته نشده است.
