People finding out that concerts have processing on them is funny. Koreans seem to give no fucks about subtlety in their live shows. Japan is a middle ground, and English live is so bare bones compared to both.
A lot of it is a cultural sound, so it's fascinating to see what happens when people get a peak into it.
A little tip on not boosting something too far with eq. Start low instead of high with it. Our ears prioritize louder sounds and louder frequency ranges. Turning something up can trick our brains into thinking it's good when it's not.
Try to boost highs on dialogue/vocals by making a shelf, and pulling it down by -3db to start. The next step is to bring it up slowly until it sounds like it fits in the production.
*Me* - Waves can burn in hell
*Also me* - I really miss using H-delay and it's only $30
Would it be too complicated to have a site that's like a combination of CCC and vgen? A singular place where you can post content creator jobs, and have a store front.
I have a question for music mixers. How much of your "secret tricks" are BS compared to what's actually needed to keep a mix competitive in its respective genre? I keep seeing posts about "my special trick" stuff for music, and I feel like a lot of it is just doing more for not much output.
Mixers have made songs sound incredible for decades with an eye on good production, production practices, mixing on boards, outboard gear, and some minor DAW tweaks to handle phase, balance, and other common issues.
I'm asking as a post-production mixer trying to get back into music. My mixing style is very old-school, so I'd like to know if my methods need to be revised for modern-day production.
My method is to treat things like a fake hybrid setup.
Sum instruments to a bus, add an ssl channel strip to emulate a console itb workflow, and use a few plugins to act as my outboard gear. The individual tracks will get minor tweaking when needed. Like phase checks, matching eq, panning, volume automation etc.

I'm mixing a pretty long segment of audio today, and have been fighting my equipment. I'd rather not buy a Mac, but it looks like I might have to. I'm extremely low on funds, so I've been eating pbj for most of my meals. Let's hope that doing this fixes my issues.
A little advice for people using clip-on mics like lavaliers.
Attach the mic just above, or around heart level instead of on your collar. Placing it too close to your neck can result in something known as "chin shadow." A lavalier is an omnidirectional mic, so it picks up audio in a 360-degree pattern. It relies on your mouth not being blocked in order to sound good.
Your chin blocks the higher frequencies needed for the mic to pick up your voice clearly. Another part of this is that omnidirectional mics lack the proximity effect. Normal mics get more bass boost as you get closer, but omnidirectional mics do not. They rely on chest resonance to help fill out the low end and bass frequencies.
Another tip is to actually face the mic upside down to avoid plosives. The capsule facing down will help a lot.
Experiment.
Your audio will sound fuller if the mic is placed properly.

Twitch ads have been helping me diet. I'm so disgusted by their presence that I refuse to buy the slop they're selling me. I've had way less fast food as of late because of it.
Too many people worry about the visuals of their EQ when it comes to balancing a source. I've seen a few tutorials that involve people changing the weighting of the EQ's visuals to look flat when things are "Balanced". That's such an ass way to go about it. If you need a visual to tell you something SOUNDS good, you might have done more harm than good.
