I think it's generic and general enough that it can't be a spoiler. Spoilers tend to be specific and expected. That's like saying that describing a horror game as having jump scares would be a spoiler, but since you don't know when to expect the jump scare(s)...
That purple lightning though!!
@cliffski Any chance we could get a "Marketing Games in 2021" blog post from you as an update on these ideas for the current landscape? Love the insights in these blog posts, just wish there were more of them!

Amazing how much this post from 2014 ended up predicting about today's marketing landscape: Video content influencers are king. Maybe it's cyclical? I guess community management is a bigger deal today with Discord than it was in 2014. positech.co.uk/cliffsblog/20…

Analyses like this one of Michelin's marketing strategy are invaluable: positech.co.uk/cliffsblog/20… Michelin (a tire company) branching into gourmet food awards was key to defining and controlling their brand association with *quality*. Any brand can do this with intention!

Great post here exploring how discounts on a game are basically a marketing cost, so if you have capital available in advance, you can consider spending that budget on developing DLC or other types of marketing rather than steeply discounting your game: positech.co.uk/cliffsblog/20…

Cliff Harris of Positech Games (@cliffski) has some excellent blog posts that distill traditional marketing knowledge and apply them to indie games in practical ways. Highly recommend checking them out for all #indiedev and #indiegame marketers! positech.co.uk/cliffsblog/pa…

OK we'll follow you to see indie gaming tips and data! 😁
In slightly pinball-adjacent news, I picked up RoundGuard after hearing you mention it on an interview and it's been great fun so far! I'm surprised at how fresh a take this is on pinball + roguelite as my only previous pinball experience was from Windows' Space Cadet. Thanks!

Oh, I see! Looks like there's a lot more growing demand than existing supply, and new pinball machine prices are quite a bit higher than these used prices we're seeing (surprising to me, I didn't know pinball was such an expensive hobby!)

Is there no one producing new, functional pinball machines? Or is it something about them being used, like collector's items?

Simon Carless' Game Discoverability interviews/podcasts have also been a boon, especially his interview with @FutureFriendsVG. Mike Rose's GDC talks are also excellent, in particular his 2019 talk about building a community from scratch. His discord meta-games are so innovative!

Been putting myself through a crash course in #indiegame marketing to learn as much as possible for our upcoming game. Anyone have any #indiegamemarketing resources to recommend? So far I've found Chris Zukowski's How to Make a Steam Page extremely helpful!
