Forward Justice Co-Founder & Senior Director of Sustainability & Emergence, Dr. Ashley Marshall says, “These elections can completely change the tide and people’s living experiences and what they feel at the bottom line in their pockets, so it’s really, really important for folks to turn out in the local elections and midterms just as they would in the presidential election.”

Litigation update: Oral arguments have been scheduled in the NC NAACP’s state case challenging the 2018 Photo Voter ID and Income Tax Cap Constitutional Amendments. These amendments would make wealthy people, corporations, and power-hoarding politicians the biggest winners, while North Carolinians would be left with fewer resources, freedoms, and choices for the future.

We submitted a public comment on behalf of the NC NAACP opposing proposed changes to North Carolina's voter ID rules.
As NC NAACP President Deborah Dicks Maxwell writes in the comment:
"We have grave concerns that mere weeks after prevailing at the district court level in the Hirsch case, the State is now seeking to remove the very same “mitigating provisions” it relied on to defend North Carolina’s voter ID law, S.B. 824, as non-discriminatory."
The State can't have it both ways. It shouldn't be able to point to these safeguards in court to defend North Carolina's voter ID law and then turn around and try to eliminate them. We are proud to stand with the NC NAACP in opposing these rule changes and protecting every North Carolinian's voting rights.

What does America 250 mean to you?
