Let's keep in mind @A24 fired Bryan Fuller who had competed scripts and ready to shoot. To start all over again. What you see is what A24 wanted to go with instead. Are there good parts, moments, characters and kills.... sure. Linda is great as Pamela. The show fails to understand Friday the 13th, force a retcon while key jangling, nostalgia baiting and easter egging 12 different franchises. It's not fresh, it's not exciting it's Bates Motel w/ scifi. The difference? Bates Motel had a lane, understood the assignment and delivered for multiple seasons.... Friday the 13th doesn't need this level of complexity if you're legit rebooting it. This new show.... it's ok, but it fails long time fans on a multitude of levels. If you love the show, good for you. I don't. I'll watch the films and the fan films that pay more respect than this show did. I feel bad for Bryan Fuller, his work on Hannibal alone should have allowed his vision to come to fruition.

Get ready for the "new" Crystal Lake fans who claim to be F13 fans, but to them those movies always sucked and this series is peak. You'll know them well, probably Scream 5&6, New Evil Dead, and David Gordon Green Halloween fans too.

You couldn't invent a more sophisticated form of birth control than a society where women can't be sexy and men can't tell jokes.

The Sayon Keita possession. He was tremendous throughout blitzing the ball screen. Then he hedges & recovers. Length forces an errant pass. Finally, every good modern day big man must rim run on offense. I love his ability to move his feet. @TarHeel_247

I wonder if in the future we’ll look back on men like these, now passed, as part of a bygone era lost forever. A mystery to a soft and complacent and safetyist culture that sees this — hard men of determination, confidence, sacrifice, and bold vision — as some moral impishness to assuage their own shortcomings. And not just in sports, but the ethos of the American Man whose heart is grounded in a code of character and responsibility but whose spirit is always on the horizon.

This speech from Marco Rubio is stunningly deep for a politician, for anyone really. A must read. I tend to stay out of politics on X, but this is political philosophy at its finest.

Rubio knows what time it is for the West. Fight or die o’clock.
.@SecRubio: "It has become fashionable today to believe that enlightened foreign policy means prioritizing the global community over one's own people. Here too, we have much to learn from the men of ancient Greece — because they knew that there was nothing selfish or wrong about loyalty to your nation, nor anything selfish or wrong about fighting to defend its interests above all else."

My goodness, North Carolina looks bigger, faster, stronger than Clemson on both sides of the ball. Looks like the much more superior roster. The Fighting Dabo’s look like a 3-9 lineup.

Bo French may well have gotten this particular photo wrong. Arguendo, let's assume every person pictured was born in America, loves America, and is completely assimilated into Texas culture.
That still doesn't address the underlying anger.
It's easy to look at reactions like these, and call them "racism." It's easy to declare the people expressing them bad, and move on. It's also politically stupid, because the anger didn't appear out of nowhere.
A lot of Texans (especially people in tech) watched employers use H-1B and other visa programs to obtain cheaper, more controllable labor. These programs are supposed to be for filling shortages, not saving money on payroll. Some have been laid off and then required to train the foreign workers replacing them. Add well-publicized cases of résumé, degree, certification, contracting, and immigration fraud, and distrust is hardly surprising.
Even where everything is perfectly legal, immigration has distributional effects. If employers can import large numbers of workers into an already competitive labor market, displaced workers are going to notice. If rapidly growing populations compete for housing in places where supply isn't keeping up, existing residents are going to notice that too.
When the federal and state government makes it clear they care more about immigrants than they care about you, you're gonna get mad about that, even if that anger looks "racist"
You can argue that some people take that legitimate resentment and turn it into racial hostility. Some plainly do. But "some of the rhetoric is racist" is not an answer to the underlying grievances.
If your response to someone saying, "I lost my job, trained my cheaper replacement, can't afford a house, and think my government doesn't give a damn about me" is simply "you're racist." you haven't solved anything. You've just convinced him that nobody intends to listen.
Democrats have learned the hard way that dismissing people's material concerns as moral defects doesn't make those concerns disappear. Republicans would be remarkably stupid to make the same mistake, yet here we are.
