Make way for DeBarge 💨
The @Twins prospect races around the bases for an inside-the-park homer, his first homer of the Fall! DeBarge is batting .367 this Fall

Adaptable > Optimal
Don’t train for perfect technique.
Train for tough responses to challenging problems.

Walls with plus vault steal timing on this SB. Bailey makes it close on a tough low out pitch. Low slot on target athletic throw.

Drills make coaches feel organised. Games make players better. Those aren’t the same thing.

Never conflate winning A game for winning THE game
NEW: UCLA head coach Bob Chesney on his goals for the 2026 season and whether they've changed:
"Goals are for people that want to win once. Process and standards are for people that want to win longterm."

The Milwaukee, Tampa Bay, and Cleveland analytic departments.
These teams are teams that are definitely not obsessing over analytics.
We’ve spent years talking about the Dodgers payroll, but are we asking the WRONG question?
Milwaukee, Tampa Bay, Cleveland… year after year, these organizations find ways to compete without spending like the giants.
At what point do big-market teams stop obsessing over analytics and start POACHING the scouts from these organizations?
Maybe the biggest competitive advantage in baseball isn’t payroll. It’s knowing how to IDENTIFY TALENT that can compete when the lights are the brightest?..
Elite training environment that @LegKickNationOG had! This is when you know you've achieved success imo as a coach.
Bazzana last night with the bait. Gets Fortes to glove drop then next pitch goes on momentum. Bazzana is one of the better base stealers who does momentum (Hoerner probably being #1). Great job jabbing trying to get a pk, knows he's not going so not being aggressive.
Has his tendencies down. Times it up perfectly. Goes before leg lift as @Coach_KGraber says. Great time to go after a pk.

“Coverages are coverages. Fronts are fronts. It’s very rare that a team just does something nobody else does. They just do it better.”
Do simple better…. **Especially** when you have better players.
Kyle Shanahan says great defenses shouldn't have to trick their opponents
“Coverages are coverages. Fronts are fronts. It’s very rare that a team just does something nobody else does. They just do it better.”
“You try to find ways to attack it, and you can always come up with some new ways in the offseason, but usually a new way has to do with putting a different player in a different spot and finding a better matchup.”
“Seattle is pretty much the same scheme with a lot of the same players, especially at the pivotal spots. They’re into what they do. There’s no reason for them to change.”
“They don’t have to trick too many people. They’re very sound at what they do, and they’re very good at what they do. They make you line up and play.”
“It’s similar to how we were in 2019. Everybody knew what we were doing, but we were really good at it, we had really good players doing it, and we did it over and over again.”
“That’s the best way to build a defense. You don’t have to get lucky with calls or put guys in risky positions.”
Create game like environments!
Practice and teach unique problem solving and movement solutions in practice. Then sit back and watch your players play with total and complete creative freedom. #Dawgs
