The House just passed @HouseCommerce's Ratepayer Protection Act to prevent ratepayers from being forced to cover the costs of infrastructure upgrades related to data center development.
Since the beginning of the 119th Congress, our Committee has led the charge to ensure the United States wins the race for AI while simultaneously safeguarding local interests. This competition will decide who is THE superpower of the next generation – it is that important.
Today’s vote is an important milestone in setting the framework to win the race for AI and empower local communities to make decisions that will allow them to develop responsibly.

American companies shouldn't be held back by burdensome European Union regulations.
In the Turnberry Agreement, the EU committed to addressing non-tariff barriers, including the deforestation rule and laws about LNG. The United States expects those commitments to be met.

The EU's Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR) is creating unnecessary barriers for U.S. forest products → afandpa.org/priorities/how-e…
U.S. producers estimate that a single shipment of forest products may include thousands of individual plots of land, and a single container can require tens of thousands of geolocation data points—despite America's well-established forest governance and negligible deforestation risk. As the American @ForestandPaper Association notes, these requirements "divert resources away from forest management, innovation, and trade, while creating non-tariff trade barriers that conflict with broader transatlantic trade commitments."
The Commission’s simplification review of EUDR did not address core concerns of this regulation: removal of onerous and costly compliance requirements for countries that do not contribute to global deforestation like the United States.

In his first term, President Trump asked manufacturers to support the USMCA, and we have been proud to do so every step of the way. We partnered with the president and Congress to drive the USMCA into law and supported the negotiations to deliver a winning deal for the American people. We kept our promises to use the USMCA’s provisions to fortify the American supply chain, power more American jobs and drive more American growth. Now is our chance to double down on behalf of the American people. Let’s preserve the USMCA, strengthen it and lead with it—creating more jobs and expanding production for the United States.

The price of America’s broken permitting system on manufacturers? Nearly $8 billion a year. That price is too high for the American people.
@RepWesterman’s #SPEEDAct will cut red tape, lower costs and get America building again.

Manufacturers strongly supported House passage of @RepWesterman and @RepGolden's bipartisan SPEED Act. With permitting delays costing manufacturers $7.9+ billion every year, it's time for Congress to pass comprehensive permitting reform. @NatResources

Manufacturers are investing across America, but permitting roadblocks are holding projects back. It takes the U.S. up to 80% longer than our peer nations to move projects forward. Manufacturers want ribbon cuttings, not red tape—that means modernizing our laws to streamline regulations and eliminate duplicative reviews and a regulatory regime to support timely permitting and give manufacturers the certainty to invest, build and create jobs.
As first shared by @axios, a new report released today by the NAM and @JoinFAI shows our broken permitting system is costing manufacturers in America $7.9 billion each year—underscoring the urgent need for bipartisan, comprehensive permitting reform to strengthen America’s economic and national security.

This morning, the Chamber's Chad Whiteman testified before @HouseCommerce on concerns about the Clean Air Act's impact on business.
“Well-balanced regulations can provide clarity that help implement the laws passed by Congress in a manner that maximizes innovation and choice. When not properly constructed, regulations become a form of government micromanagement that eliminates the ability to do what people in free markets do best—innovate.”
