Today, the Trump Administration is sanctioning the ICC. This action should encourage our Allies within the Court to work for solutions to end this threat to U.S. sovereignty forever.

A great moment during my visit to Berlin: standing on the historic Reagan Balcony at U.S. Embassy Berlin, overlooking the Brandenburg Gate. There in 1987, President Reagan issued a challenge that echoed across a divided Europe: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” The Wall fell. Europe was reunited. Nearly 40 years later, the transatlantic partnership—and our shared commitment to freedom, security, and prosperity—remains as consequential as ever.

Yesterday, @US2EU Deputy Chief of Mission Norman Thatcher Scharpf joined YPFP Brussels for a Freedom 250 fireside chat on the future of U.S.-EU relations. His core message to emerging leaders was clear: look beyond daily headlines, build a well-rounded perspective, think critically, and have the courage to take smart risks to shape our shared transatlantic future. Thank you to YPFP Brussels for an outstanding event!

From the birthplace of democracy, @SecRubio delivered a powerful reminder: America and Europe share a history and a future. A stronger, more confident Europe means a stronger transatlantic alliance. As the Secretary said in Athens: "Together, we must strengthen an alliance capable of confronting threats of our age. And we can. Because we do not believe the transatlantic friendship should be zero sum. Quite the opposite: our vision is of an alliance whose strength is greater than the sum of its parts." youtube.com/watch?v=eOv1DpML…

The EU's deforestation regulation (EUDR) will drive up the price of everyday foods like cheese, eggs, and meat for European families. It adds unnecessary costs to products from countries that don't contribute to global deforestation, and European producers and consumers end up paying the price. The Commission can’t claim to be lowering food costs while it’s needlessly increasing them. Europe's animal feed industry estimates EUDR compliance could cost EU farmers €1.4 billion in 2027 (h/t FEFAC). Most of that comes from an extra €30 a ton on soy, a main ingredient in animal feed. There's no good reason for this. The United States poses negligible deforestation risk, and U.S. forests have been stable or growing for decades. Removing compliance burdens for negligible-risk countries like the U.S. would lower costs for European consumers without undermining the EUDR's goals. The Commission should act in its EUDR review, before the clock runs out. @vonderleyen @JessikaRoswall @VDombrovskis @MarosSefcovic @CHansenEU

Europe's talent is world class, and it has what it takes to reindustrialize and lead Europe in the SI economy. Now it needs the energy to match. After all, there are no energy-poor, economically prosperous countries. That was my message today at the TBI Transatlantic Dialogue in Berlin. Growth is the goal. Let's deliver on the U.S.-EU trade deal, cut through the regulatory maze, unleash energy abundance, and stand together on China. Under @POTUS President @realDonaldTrump's leadership, America stands ready to be Europe's partner for growth. Thank you to the TBI Transatlantic Dialogue for the invitation.

Transatlantic trade delivers for American and European workers and consumers. German companies like DHL create jobs, invest in the United States, and keep essential goods moving. Great to meet with DHL Group CEO Tobias Meyer to discuss how we can continue to strengthen our partnership.

Visited the U.S. Navy’s P8-patrol in Iceland. For 75 years, the U.S.-Iceland Defense Agreement has served as the foundation of our security partnership. Grateful for our servicemembers who keep the Arctic secure while solving the challenges of today and tomorrow.

Three years ago today, Hamas terrorists tortured, mutilated, and murdered 1,200 innocent civilians in Israel. Among those slain were men, women, and children — including dozens of Americans. We will never forget this act of barbarism against an ally and recommit ourselves to the defense of civilization.

DCM Norman Thatcher Scharpf joined policymakers, business leaders, and academics for "The Transatlantic Outlook: Competitiveness, Security, and Strategic Resilience," hosted by @coebruges and @Microsoft. Key theme: the United States and the EU are stronger and more prosperous when they partner together. Real competitiveness comes from innovation, open markets, and genuine collaboration among allies — not from regulation. Great discussion on how the transatlantic partnership can drive growth, strengthen security, and build resilience for the road ahead.

The United States and Latvia have a powerful opportunity to strengthen the transatlantic economy: more trade, secure AI supply chains, and more American energy powering our allies. From Riga to Washington, energy security is economic security—and strong supply chains mean strong nations. It was a pleasure to meet @ViktorsValainis today in Riga.

A quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001, when the peace of our Nation was shattered by terrorists. Today, we remember the 2,977 precious lives taken from us, honor the heroes who answered the call, & keep their families in the heart of our Nation. Above all, we must ensure the memory of 9/11 never fades, but is carried from one generation of Americans to the next. We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Draghi got it right: the EU needs to tame its regulatory beast, not slow down its innovators. True competitiveness comes from liberating Europe's entrepreneurs and treating American companies as partners for growth, not targets for regulation. The U.S. stands ready to help build the technological capacity and energy abundance Europe needs to compete. Great discussion today at the #RigaConf2026 with Commissioner @VDombrovskis, @petersarlin, Garance Pineau @ODDO_BHF, and @Bruegel_org's Rebecca Christie.

Great discussion with @AmChamLat today. Our nations share deep commercial ties, and Latvia's business community gets it: smart, streamlined regulation is the key to unlocking growth, investment, and competitiveness. By cutting red tape, increasing investments in security and defense, and embracing digital transformation and artificial intelligence, Latvia is positioning itself as a competitive European hub and a trusted transatlantic partner.
