🗡️3,400‑year‑old Nördlingen octagonal sword discovered in southern Germany🇩🇪
The Bronze Age weapon was recently examined with synchrotron imaging that revealed something no one expected: its geometric decorations were made from ultra‑fine drawn copper wires, each segment inserted by hand and still preserving the original tool marks.
The blade and tang were forged as one piece and locked with transverse rivets, while the edges show cold‑hammering and controlled annealing, proof of a workshop that understood metal behavior at a level far beyond simple casting.
The study was carried out by the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation with researchers at Berlin’s BESSY II facility, and it rewrites what we thought Bronze Age smiths in this region were capable of.

Several variations of the elephant blacksmith. I drew quite a lot of iterations and sketches for this character to find a personality that I find interesting and that helps reveal his story.
There’s a knock on the window that@_Chronomance ‘s shop shares with Flynt’s courtyard.
“Jingaling!” He calls as a bell from the shop rings. He’s put a little gift box on their windowsill.
There’s a gift waiting on the kitchen island for @rizzlessbard when they wander out of bed this morning.

There’s a tapping sound as Flynt slide onto a stool at @flertomchils ‘ bar.
“Heh, my, can I get a short glass of my favorite barm- oh look, you’re already ready.”
When she turns around, she can see a coy grin, and the source of tapping sound; a gift box he’s set on the bar.
