We stopped at Winn Dixie on the way to school and Annie (5 year old) excitedly proclaimed, "Daddy it's Hulk!" Lol we aren't much of a Halloween family so she doesn't know Frankenstein Monster but i do love Hulk. Picture 2 is my favorite Hulk comic I own which a friend of mine (though he is a Chicago Bear fan 👎🏻) gave me! A nice copy of a silver age book!
Can we please help @Chris_Stubb get to 1000? Please. 🩷

@elonmusk if you eliminate the 50 spam calls I get a day, I will be a customer for life.
Verizon's CEO said today that SpaceX will need at least 4-6 years and $300B-$500B to fully build out its @Starlink Mobile U.S. carrier network:
"Their service just can't compete with a terrestrial network. In suburban and urban areas, where 98% of our revenues are, we're somewhere between 100x–1,000x more efficient than they are. We know exactly what they're going to do. We know who they're talking to on towers. There's no magic wand. There's no secret sauce. There's no shortcut.
They're going to look at 65,000–80,000 macro sites. They're going to need backhaul, RAN, and a tremendous amount of spectrum. It's going to take a minimum of four to six years to fully build that out. It's going to cost hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars, I assume somewhere between $300 billion and $500 billion.
Then they need to build retail, customer service, back office systems, et cetera. All of that gets them basically the same network and same capabilities and same cost structure as what we have today. Then sometime over the next four to six years, they have the possibility of becoming the sixth, not the fourth, the sixth competitor in the market.
You can be sure over these next three to five years or six years, we are not going to be standing still. Four to five years from now, we will be two to three generations better than where we are today. We will have high-speed broadband gig-plus coverage across the country with our millimeter wave. We are ahead of most people and already experimenting with what 6G applications will look like."

It’s wonderfully wild to realize that there are so many of us left. Wonderfully wild (in the very best of ways) indeed. Night all. See you tomorrow.

Gentle reminder that:
1. Some things matter
2. Some things matter a LOT
3. Most things don’t matter 😉
Stress accordingly. 🍁

Can’t believe Jacob didn’t add this picture to our beautiful thread. Kids. 😂 so I’m adding here. Enjoy🩷 the exhale is a real thing.
In January I went to Merritt Island and got there early. The biggest shot I was able to get was this Snowy Egret right as the sun came up. I know @bebesunshine shared this but I wanted to put it out there because a lot of people really like it (I prefer the kingfisher lol)
I remember being accused of being a bot because my account was so small. Sometimes it’s just hard to get started. Please consider giving @KimbleKimble6 a follow 🩷

So I sat through a class last week that specifically talked about how beauty is so good for the brain. A mood lifter. A restorer. With that in mind, I asked people to post beautiful pictures yesterday and many did. Now offering to the x world. Take a minute, either this thread or elsewhere, and let your eyes take in some beauty. Pretty sure our brains will thank us. ♥️

This picture from @GraceOnFire2 is absolutely incredible and reminds me that my lone owl picture is....well, it's in the comments 😭
Amber eyes, one raised brow.
He’s not impressed with me, you, the light, or the dust floating by.
Eurasian Eagle-Owl (Bubo bubo)
#BirdPhotography #WildlifePhotography

ALT Eurasian Eagle-Owl perched on a weathered wooden stump, facing the camera with its head turned slightly to the side. Its large orange eyes and tall ear tufts stand out against a soft, blurred green forest background dotted with golden bokeh and floating specks of dust. Sunlight rims its feathers, lighting up the tawny chest with fine dark streaks and barring. Its talons grip the top of the stump, and a leather anklet is visible on one leg.

Memory lane 1980
I was 10. My Uncle Steve owned the Western Auto in town. He paid me 5 dollars a week to come every morning and every evening to “move” the bikes outside and back inside. (I lined them up on the sidewalk outside of the store.)
It was my Mama’s birthday and I wanted to surprise her with a gift. Mr Sam’s pharmacy was next door, and essentially the only other place in town to shop
My little 10 year old heart walked over (life was different. We were a little feral and often just walked where we wanted to go) - and bought what I firmly believed was the nicest thing in the store. A plate. I don’t know why I chose a plate (she didn’t collect them) but a plate I bought.
The lady behind the counter wrapped it up and it was a beautiful gift. I was so proud giving her something she didn’t pay for - an actual surprise. She ooh’d and ahhhh’d.
Days before her death, she took me to her dining room and handed me the plate. She never forgot.
I also don’t collect plates, but there’s one that sits out every day. It reminds me of my Mama and a 10 year old heart.

Evelyn’s first giggle just happened… and I think my heart exploded. 💛
She looked up with those bright little eyes, let out the tiniest, happiest sound, and suddenly the whole world felt lighter. If you’ve ever needed a reminder that pure joy still exists, this is it.
Sharing this little moment in hopes it brightens your day the way she brightens mine.
Welcome to the world, sweet girl. You’re already making it better. ✨

Okay Florida friends. Does anyone have a Florida sunrise over the water to share? Let’s show off our beautiful state ♥️
Replying to @bebesunshine
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but in Florida it is easy to take a sunrise and sunset over big waters. In Oregon we only get sunsets, but our clouds can make them magnificent. It is all beautiful.

Adding one for whoever needs it later: Holy Forever. It's the song that resets everything for us when the week has been loud. A few more in the same spirit here: open.spotify.com/playlist/6r…
People grow. Perspectives shift. Keep going.
Memory Lane 1992
Pregnant with Jacob and came time for delivery. Ultrasounds weren’t great then and we didn’t even know the gender.
Learned during the delivery process that there was a second sac and a fetus that didn’t survive.
I remember thinking when Jacob was about 17, I couldn’t imagine having to handle two of him.
Now, at 34, I wish I had 10 of him.
The moral of the story is people grow. Perspectives shift. Joy is real. Keep going.

You know… when you’re a parent and something good happens to you, it’s nice. But when you’re a parent and something good happens for them, it’s REALLY REALLY fabulous. He’s been on this specific quest for literal years ♥️♥️
So this is it!! I'm not posting because this is an amazing picture, but because it's an amazing bird! This is the Red-Cockaded Woodpecker and it is super rare (though in 2024 it moved from endangered to threatened). It's easy to mistake it for a downy but you can see the differences on the facial markings. These guys only nest inside living pines, preferably ones with red heart fungus because it makes it easier for them to excavate and make its home. This was a big one, maybe even THE big one for me up to this point and I couldn't be happier
