This week, our officers went through STOPS Training. Officers worked on their tactics and communication skills during high-risk situations. This week they did reality based scenarios with live role players for the most realistic training experience we can provide. Training like this is important to our team, helping to ensure we are ready for every situation.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 30, 2024 (Fishers, Indiana) – Fishers Police Officers arrest an Indianapolis man early Sunday morning after robbing a local restaurant, fleeing from police, and firing his weapon. Just after 1:30 a.m. on June 30, officers were called about a robbery and carjacking at the Taco Bell on Allisonville Road. Preliminary information from dispatch was several males entered the drive-through window with guns drawn and began demanding money. Additionally, one of the suspects had left in a blue Dodge Challenger that belonged to one of the victims. FPD responded to the Taco Bell, located the employees unharmed, and began investigating. Simultaneously, officers located the stolen Dodge Challenger southbound on Allisonville Rd. and initiated a traffic stop. A pursuit ensued south on Allisonville Rd., into Marion County. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 24-year-old Fredrick Nance, quickly exited the car and fled on foot. Several officers, including a K-9 team, chased the suspect. The K-9 was released by its handler for apprehension. During the foot pursuit, officers heard a gunshot. The K-9 was ahead of the foot pursuit, when the shot was fired. No officers or the K-9 were injured. Officers were able to take Nance into custody with a K-9 apprehension. Nance was medically evaluated before being transported to the Hamilton County Jail. Nance had several pieces of evidence belonging to the victims. A handgun used in the crime was located near where the suspect was taken into custody. The handgun was a Glock and had a machinegun conversion device attached to it. (Photo Attached). The victims all positively identified Nance as the suspect in this case. Today, we honored our dear friend, Officer Leslie Anne Hulse, by dedicating a tree in her memory near the police department. Thanks to the Hamilton East Public Library and the Fishers Police Corps, this tree is planted in a place for all to see and enjoy as they walk the Nickel Plate Trail. Leslie’s mom Pam Huebschman said today she’s glad her daughter is back home at the PD. “It filled my heart with so much joy to know how many of you remember her. She loved her work, she loved the people she worked with. She loved the town of fishers,” she said. Leslie became a Fishers Police Officer in 1999 and left a memorable impression to all who met her. During her 10 years at the department she was a Field Training Officer, SWAT officer, DARE officer and Special Investigations Detective assigned to the iPATH task force combatting Human Trafficking. Above all else, Leslie was a daughter, sister, friend and Christ-Warrior! Her final reflection on life was to GET UP AND LIVE! We hope we make her proud as we take this to heart each day in our own lives! #echo6 #getupandlive @HamiltonEastPL @FishersIN @ScottFadness @FishersChief

Our leadership team met this morning. We are prepared for whatever Mother Nature has planned for us.
Winter weather is coming and it’s looking like it has the potential to be pretty rough. Our public safety, @FishersDPW, and leadership team members met earlier today to prep for whatever comes our way.
