🚨 Gemini 4 Leaks: Surpasses Fable and Astra
> Gemini 4 has moved into early post-training
> Google reportedly sees Gemini 4 as their step toward AGI
> Gemini 4 is expected to crush Fable and Astra
> DeepMind is reportedly already running internal checkpoints
> Gemini 4 is reportedly being used inside Antigravity, with safety teams still building out guardrails and testing
> Plans are to keep refining the model post-launch
> Google appears to have gone all-in on Gemini 4
> Recent RSI progress could tie into the bigger strategy
Are we finally about to get Gemini 4?

Fascinating article about Navier-Stokes solution and what mathematicians have learned … “so far humanity has learned very little from the solution. Although they believe the proof to be technically correct, the dense, 166-page manuscript drafted by AI is proving to be a difficult read. "So far it's been very difficult to really extract any human understanding from this new AI proof," said James Maynard, a mathematician at the University of Oxford. The paper is not written for humans," said Javier Gómez-Serrano, a mathematician at Brown University who uses AI in his own research. He said he believes the proof could help advance the field after "some serious re-writing," but "as of today, the paper doesn't teach us much."”

We’re building Copilot as a new OS for work that spans every model, every form factor, and every task. Today, we’re announcing our biggest update to Copilot to date, bringing four things together:
· Autopilot: proactive and long-running agent built for the enterprise
· Code: build apps with Copilot, hosted inside your company’s tenant
· Home: Chat + Cowork together
· Office: now fully embedded in Copilot (and Copilot embedded in Office, of course!)
Plus, you can invoke Copilot in Teams, and we’re introducing Today, a proactive experience that surfaces the most important information from across M365 without needing to ask for it.
The way we work is changing and so are our workflows. This update brings AI into that flow, from answering a question, to building an app, to getting work done on your behalf.

This is the way!
"The United States totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme of control for superintelligence."
AI titan Anthropic has launched a biology ‘wet lab’ where human scientists and AI agents will work together to design and conduct experiments. The company has released one of the team’s first finds: a peculiar pattern of DNA in the genomes of several giant viruses.

I love how Mark Zuckerberg simply laughs at the question of whether "AI will wipe us all out," as if it were the most absurd question in the world.
At this point, no one is going to slow down.

The claim that "LLMs cannot think" is unscientific, unless supported by a very difficult argument about non equivalence of causal structure producing anthropomorphic outputs. The claim requires a formally rigorous definition of thinking that captures how humans mentally manipulate conceptual structure. Since LLMs can reproduce all kinds of human output that require operations that are typically considered to involve thought (eg. scene understanding, text summarization, translation, computer programs, mathematical proofs, common sense arguments, spatial cognition, theory of mind), it has to be shown that LLMs reach these results in fundamentally different ways than human minds. In principle, this is not impossible (given that thinking is still relatively poorly understood by cognitive neuroscience), but would be surprising, because it has been shown that the causal structure of computer vision models is structurally equivalent to what neuroscience discovered about visual cognition in primates.
In any case, saying that LLMs don't think cannot reasonably mean that LLMs are inferior to human cognition (since that this evidently not true), but that LLMs discovered an equivalent yet at least equally powerful mechanism.
For the first time, a group of researchers — including scientists from @GoogleResearch and HHMI Janelia — built the first complete brain map for a male fruit fly. Together, we mapped every single neural connection in a male fruit fly brain and central nervous system, amounting to more than 166,000 neurons.
Here’s why we did it.
ALT A colorful 3D reconstruction of a connectome shows the map of over 166,000 neurons and 125 million connections in a male fruit fly's brain and nerve cord.
ALT A fruit fly connectome map text with scattered fruit fly images. The text reads: "With it, we can compare our new map to other connectomes of the female fly brain, including our 2020 hemibrain project with partners. Having maps for both fruit fly sexes allows researchers to pinpoint exact structural brain differences and study how they drive specific biological behaviors.”

New on the Science Blog: Yes, Claude can do Nine Loops.
Theoretical physicists predict how particles behave using formulas called scattering amplitudes. These are notoriously hard to compute, so researchers work with layers of increasingly fine corrections called “loops”—each added loop makes the answer more precise but takes exponentially more computation. Most calculations stop at two or three loops. Eight loops was the previous record in a simplified model physicists use as a testing ground (planar N=4 super-Yang-Mills), set by SLAC's Lance Dixon and collaborators.
Last month, physicist and science writer @4gravitons issued a challenge: could an AI push past eight loops in this model, using only the compute budget an academic could reasonably access?
Given a single prompt describing the nine-loop problem, Claude ran largely unsupervised for days in Claude Science and solved it using methods developed by Dixon and his colleagues, at a total cost of a few thousand dollars. Dixon independently verified the result, and von Hippel wrote about the experience for our blog.

Another major scientific breakthrough from Anthropic/Claude.
The age of autonomous scientific discovery is here.
Claude just one shotted a frontier theoretical physics calculation 👀
Claude autonomously computed a nine loop scattering amplitude in N=4 super Yang-Mills, a frontier calculation that top physicists had been working toward and that was considered too difficult to attack directly.
It used established physics methods, wrote the necessary code from scratch, ran the computation in two different ways, and reached a result that was independently validated.
It required almost no scientific hand holding beyond essentially "keep working."
The full run would have cost an end user only around $1,000-$2,000, and the author describes it as a major jump from AI doing student like physics projects earlier this year to autonomously completing real frontier research.
