This saddens me immensely. It was, however, inevitable. Despite best efforts and intentions of this last edition of EG leadership, I’m afraid nothing could have salvaged the damage caused before them. Founder-led organizations face this problem time and time again, and it’s all but obvious that there’s no playbook in esports that have found a solution to maintain brand identity, vision and growth, once the original creators leave. Evil Geniuses was a brand that I had the pleasure of both playing and working for at the height of their success (2011-2013). I took immense pride in bleeding blue both in- and out of game, and I was surrounded by people who felt as passionate as I did. That’s rare. When Alex, Colin and the rest of the company had to move on, it was already the beginning of the end. Phil lead a shadow of its former self as best he could with little resources at his disposal, and when Peak6 came in and threw their financial weight around, so too did a level of arrogance I’ve never witnessed before or since (which is ironic, as both the original EG and 100 Thieves to some extent was in part built on what I like to think of as “positive arrogance”). Handing over the reins from Phil to Nicole was the ultimate death warrant. Sure, she was smart and certainly tried to lean into various ways of reestablishing former prominence, but the house of cards would eventually crumble and come down on her, her team of coconspirators, and sadly, everyone around them who just happened to play, work or support the organization. I’m fortunate to know Chris, and some of his people, who’s tried their very best to rectify and restore credibility, but esports fandom is fickle and there is little you can do when your holding company is and was the reason it all went awry to begin with. It saddens me that his team and he could be blamed for this outcome, as I firmly believe they are well-intended people who was dealt an impossible hand. I’ve seen esports organizations come and go, I have played my part in several of them, and I know how difficult it is to turn a ship around once it’s headed for the abyss. EG, the brand and legacy founded by Alex Garfield, deserved better. North American esports deserves to have the original Evil Geniuses at the forefront of competition.

I might just be living the dad life now, but my little family sure is proud of @Satthew and the boys for an incredible win today. It feels like a lifetime ago that I would have been across from you, but you’re setting a great example as a fantastic coach!

I just wish the esports team had half the amount of effort and drive that the partnerships team has at Epic / Psyonix. Why is one department so much more successful than the other?

Truly one of the greatest. People underestimate how difficult it is to stay at that level of play for that long, AND not have any drama surrounding them the entire time. I have the utmost respect for Garrett for how he handled himself throughout his career, and he will be missed
Well guys, this is it. I have officially retired from professional Rocket League. I will make a video soon with the reasons why, some of which are obvious and some of which are a bit more personal. But for now, I just want to say thank you. This experience has been one of a lifetime, one that I will forever be grateful for and cherish. It's been almost a decade now since this journey began, and it has gone by so fast. From day one, I just wanted to appreciate it and not take it for granted, and looking back I am very proud. I have made so many memories from this game. Some of hardship and failure, and some of overcoming what I felt was impossible. All the friendships and relationships I have made, places I have had the privilege of going to, and it's all because of Rocket League. I am eternally grateful I stumbled upon this game and community, and I hope I was able to impact it even a fraction of how much it has impacted me. I won't be going too far, as I will still be making content around the game, but it is certainly the end of a huge chapter of my life, one that is bittersweet to close. To all my teammates, and those who supported me through all this, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. GarrettG

There’s so many more good things I can say about you @GarrettG, but most of all thank you for being the shining example of what rocket league esports embodies

Fuck it. Let’s pop this hashtag off. Let’s make our voices heard. Let’s stand together. I know if there’s one thing we can stand behind, it’s this statement. Rocket League, you got me? #WeAreNotFortnite !!!

Arsenal, AYYJAYY, Chausette, G2, BDS. You have lost them all in just one season of your so-called new plan. These are creators. These are high level professionals. These are revenue generators that believed in your game. These are core personalities and brands vital to success. These are great people. YOU said these changes would protect creators and players. YOU said YOU would help foster the growth of your people around the scene with or without orgs. Now, YOU remain silent at the most crucial time to build momentum. Is your plan working or is what we have warned you about since last year with a 100+ person survey coming to light? Are you listening? Do you have any heart left? @EpicGames @RLEsports

We’ve hit a point where rostering a team for the RLCS has FAR outpaced the potential revenue that can be brought back in. Teams are entering into a very long off-season, and orgs will be looking at what makes sense for them based on what we know from this year and what’s to come in 2025, so expect a lot of change. Anyone who invests into Rocket League next year is doing it for the love of the esport.

I will be looking for a Head Coach position for the upcoming season. I've been grinding extremely hard over the last year and I'm hungry to be at the top again. My previous time with Furia has helped me learn so much to become a better coach and I'm excited for a new opportunity.
