Say “disabled”, not “differently abled”. It’s okay for you to acknowledge our struggles!!! Just say disabled. Otherwise it seems like you’re ignoring what we struggle with. #ActuallyAutistic #Autism #ADHD

Many people have trouble remembering that I’m disabled. I guess I seem really put together- until I struggle to describe things and feelings. Until I start making noises or go mute. Until I forget tasks… I even forget people. #Autism #ADHD #ActuallyAutistic

As an autistic white woman, I highly suggest you follow more autistic POCs. #ActuallyAutistic #autism

Don’t lie: What’s the first thing you think of when you hear the word #autism? Yup. White boys. Sad but not surprising in a male, white-dominated country. This is why they tend to get diagnosed first. #ActuallyAutistic

You might see me shut down a lot, unfortunately. Especially in large groups. Wish I didn’t, but what can I do? That’s my brain saying “I’ve had enough.” #ActuallyAutistic
Instead of the external presentation we can see with autistic meltdowns, shutdowns see the individual turn inward. Whilst a shutdown can appear calm from the outside compared to a meltdown it can be equally exhausting for the individual experiencing it. #AutisticShutdown #Autism

On this the last day of #AutismAcceptanceMonth… don’t forget about us adults!!! It should be obvious that kids become adults. So many organizations just focus on kids. What happens when we grow up? We’re older but we still need help, too. #ActuallyAutistic

My nephew’s on the spectrum like me. So is a cousin, possibly my dad and more. I’ve heard many stories of families on the spectrum. But sure, vaccines cause autism. #ActuallyAutistic #AutismAcceptanceMonth

My autism was mislabeled as... Friendly but weird... annoying... self-centered... too much... not enough... introverted... finicky... overly sensitive... talks too much... smart but... capable but... [insert positive attribute here] but...... (there's always a but)

I’m proud to say that after the pandemic lockdown, many rejections and burnout… I finally have a job again! I start receptionist work in a week. A good way to start #AutismAcceptanceMonth! #hireautistics #ActuallyAutistic

It’s darkly funny because it’s true. If you’re not autistic, please for the love of God- LISTEN to autistics!!! #ActuallyAutistic #Autism

TW: ableism Pt. 1- There’s a whole community that wants to rid the world of autism. It’s NOT possible unless you go down a dark hole... eugenics. We’ve already had plenty of that in the past. Just look it up. This included the work of Hans Asperger. #Autism #Aspergers

Pt. 2- I’m horrified (but not surprised) that people ever listened to him, much less named my condition after him. Nope. It’s autism now. Why can’t we just exist?!? #Autism #Aspergers
