ALT The budget had some glimmers of hope but we need to see more urgent and wide scale action and investment. Alongside the Children and Young People's Mental Health Coalition we're calling for the Government to use the next Budget in the Spring to reset and truly invest in the mental health system, so all babies, children and young people can thrive.

ALT Dysgraphia. Can look like: A poor, uncomfortable pen grip. Verbal ability better than written. Uncomfortable body positioning when writing. Poor spacing of words & margins. Poor spelling, or words which haven’t been finished. Pain and discomfort after writing. Idea for support: Provide different pens or grip tools. Practice motor skills. Look at alternative ways working eg verbal over written, typing on a keyboard. Allow extra time to complete work.

ALT “What is of essential importance is the impact that being autistic has on a person at any given time. This can range from horrifically negative right through to sublimely positive, and sometimes both can be found in the same individual. So, if this dramatic difference can be seen at different times in the same person, what 'grade' is that person? Clearly, this is where the whole notion of 'autism severity' crumbles.” Dr Luke Beardon.

Overlaid text reads: “Maybe Autism in Black girls manifests how it manifests in white girls but you do not see us, actually maybe you can see us, you just choose to discount our experience, ignore our needs, invalidate our pain, erase all existence of our trauma because you do not see Black girls as human." Warda Farah, Autistic Girls Network Trustee.
