I'm honoured to join @CRUK_CI and @Cambridge_Uni as a Junior Group Leader of AI for Cancer. My group will focus on reasoning, multimodality, hypothesis-making, and more to decode disease and health.
A few positions are opened — consider applying to outsmart cancer together!
We are delighted to welcome @hana_aliee to the Institute. She joins as a Junior Group Leader and will lead her team in developing AI models to understand the molecular mechanisms driving health and disease. Find out more: cruk.cam.ac.uk/news/dr-hana-…

(1/n) The first preprint from our lab is now out in @NatureGenet! We tried to tackle a key challenge in spatial biology to quantitatively characterizing cellular niches by learning spatial gene programs using NicheCompas led by @SebastianBirk_.

(1/8) IMPA is published now in @NatureComms. (a) It can generate phenotypic cell painting/microscopy data images under unseen drug and genetic perturbations. (b) It learns a perturbation map of treatment similarities (small molecules together with genetic) and (c) it corrects batch effects in microscopy data. This was @ale__palmaa’s master’s thesis, which I supervised with @fabian_theis.

1/10 image-based screening advanced drug discovery but scaling to massive perturbation space is hard! Given a cell image, we asked if we could predict the morphological effect induced by a perturbation! Led by @ale__palmaa & w @fabian_theis we propose IMPA tinyurl.com/yy4jfn4h

PS: Thank you so much @C_D_Todd for introducing me to the fascinating world of enhancer priming over 3 years ago🙏
Preprint alert! 🎉 @C_D_Todd and the team used multi-omic profiling of human and mouse embryonic development to identify a conserved program of epigenetic priming at lineage specific enhancers for all three germ layers within the epiblast.
