Refugee women activists & women’s rights organisations in Kenya came together with the FHN, New Women Connectors & Development Transformations to co-create feminist approaches to climate data, analysis, & advocacy. Those most affected by climate change must shape the solutions.

As #Kenya continues to strengthen #mentalhealth framework, the Mental Health (Amendment) Act, 2022 marks an important shift towards rights-based, accessible, and community-centered mental healthcare. During a stakeholder engagement convened by RCK government representatives, partners and refugee stakeholders explored the provisions and practical implications of the Act within refugee-serving systems. The session highlighted key reforms introduced under the Mental Health (Amendment) Act, 2022, including the integration of mental health services into primary healthcare under Section 3A, protection of the rights, dignity and freedom from discrimination of persons with mental illness under Section 3 and Section 3F, strengthened consent to treatment processes under Section 3B, confidentiality and protection safeguards, as well as the promotion of community-based mental health and psychosocial support services as provided under Sections 5 of the Act. Discussions also examined the rights of persons with mental illness to accessible, affordable and quality mental healthcare, after-care support, and participation in society free from abuse, exploitation and stigma. Participants were also charged with devising areas of collaboration between the County health officials In addition, discussions focused on the importance of aligning institutional practices, referral pathways, and workplace wellbeing policies with the new legal framework to ensure inclusive and responsive support for #refugees, #asylumseekers, and host communities. As the need for mental health and psychosocial support continues to grow within displacement settings, strengthening awareness and implementation of the Act remains critical in promoting protection, resilience, and wellbeing. At @RCKKenya we are committed to advancing informed, rights-based, and people-centered mental health and psychosocial support systems. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAct2022 #RightsBasedCare #CommunityWellbeing #RefugeeProtection @DRSKenya @lsk_nbi @unwomenkenya @IKEA @InteriorKE @MOH_Kenya @hesedafrica @HIASAfrica @KenyaGovernors @NLinKenya @denmarkinkenya @giz_gmbh @FeministHumNet @HakiKNCHR

We celebrate the power of living fully & the collective courage it takes to build a world where everyone can be, belong, & thrive. At a time when gender diversity is facing increasing attacks, backlash, & erasure, we continue to resist & build. With boldness. With joy. With pride

Feminist solidarity carries us in this moment. Across the frontlines of crisis, women, girls, gender-diverse persons & women with disabilities are living through deep harm & deep resistance within the same systems of violence. We name it, hold it, & resist together for ALL of us.

This series is a space for our movement to pause, reflect & reimagine leadership rooted in feminist principles. This session challenged dominant norms of professionalism, reimagining leadership through matriarchal values of care, justice, & collective responsibility. #feminist

"Risk" continues to be used to exclude Womens Rights Organisations, while their life-saving labour is being extracted. In this research lead by WROs, we have been listening, learning, & documenting to explore collective action for feminist transformation. #feministresearch

On International Women’s Day, we are reminded that climate action must also advance women’s rights. @WREPNG, we believe that sustainable climate action must center women’s leadership, safety, and participation. Happy International Women’s Day from WREP.💜

This #IWD2026 we launch the Feminist Leadership in Crisis series. A space for our movements to reflect, share strategies, celebrate & learn from one another. Because the world will always need feminist leadership as a moral compass, a guiding light, & a force to break injustice.
