The major goal of the PhD project in the @Kei__Sakamoto Group is to investigate the molecular mechanism by which AMPK controls metabolic processes in skeletal muscle and liver through specific post-translational modification (PTM, such as reversible phosphorylation) and develop unique methods/strategy to modify or mimic such regulation via cutting-edge targeted protein PTM technology or small molecules in cells/tissues.

Each year, the journal Skeletal Muscle's Impact Factor keeps going up. Now it's at 5.3 for 2-year impact, 5.0 for 5-year impact. It's the go-to journal for increases in understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying skeletal muscle biology.
