📣important perspective: while pre specified clinical endpoints are key for hypothesis validation, open clinical exploration for hypothesis generation in humans should also be encouraged, especially to understand molecular physiology 💪🏃♀️
We wrote this letter to address the overly rigid preregistration requirements imposed now by many journals on exploratory experimental physiology research - time to align guidelines with contemporary research methods!

New mechanism of muscle growth in length
1/ Ever wondered how lifting weights makes muscles grow? 💪Our latest study reveals that mTORC1 doesn’t always hold the key. Full breakdown + preprint in this thread 👇biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

A message to relay: Sarcopenia is not just any sort of muscle wasting, its the loss of muscle mass AND strength with old age (different from cachexia secondary to cancer/COPD/CKD/CHF or disuse atrophy during immobilization…)
Sarcopenia ≠ low muscle mass
Main differences between causes, dysfunctions, and outcomes associated with sarcopenia and low muscle mass👇
