Imagination is the key to a good life Without it, you can’t live a life of love, joy, or peace For you must see a goal to obtain it… And the imagination is what you use to see these things Especially when the world you live in is teeming with their opposites How do you cultivate the imagination, then? READING is the best way to start. That’s because reading does for the brain what video does not Namely, it forces you to generate images in your own mind Reading makes your brain flex its creative muscles, constructing entire worlds out of the groupings of letters printed on the page before you This generation of images - a literal act of creation - is what fuels the imagination And imagination is what inspires If you want to inspire young boys and girls on to good things, you must first cultivate their imagination For they can only attain what they can envision Hand them a book with tales of knights, adventure, and hidden treasure And don’t fall for the trap of entertaining them with what’s “relatable” Most media (especially film and tv) today focuses on the uninspiring They depict broken households and everyday hardships, all in the name of being “relatable” But contrary to being helpful, these shows do a complete disservice to the budding imagination: They completely omit any higher ideal or true goodness that’s worth striving for And this impacts how a child (or even an adult) conceives of the possibilities available to him It you can’t picture a life where two parents live together lovingly Where heroes are real And where difficulties are overcome with dignity… Then how do you ever hope to live that out in your own life? To transform your future, you must transform your imagination The best way to start is to pick up a good book and let your imagination run wild!

We are deeply saddened by the passing of David McCallum and privileged that CBS was his home for so many years. David was a gifted actor and author, and beloved by many around the world. He led an incredible life, and his legacy will forever live on through his family and the countless hours on film and television that will never go away. We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor that lit up any room or soundstage he stepped onto, as well as the brilliant stories he often shared from a life well-lived. Our hearts go out to his wife Katherine and his entire family, and all those who knew and loved David.

This version of Bach’s first cello suite was recorded live in the Great Smoky Mountains. I’ve always thought of Suite No. 1 as “Nature at Play,” so it was a dream to play it with the birds, the trees, and the rushing brook. ▶️ yoyoma.lnk.to/natureatplay

Trafficking survivors told me they're being harassed and insulted by fans of "Sound of Freedom," who are calling them "groomers" and "pedophiles" for criticizing the movie. SOF fans, they say, are missing real and tangible things they could do to help. vice.com/en/article/epvbyz/t…

Adrienne Martin finally had enough of extremists in her deep-red community trying to get books banned and to inject religion into her child’s school. Listen to her kick-ass speech before the Granbury Texas school board. It’s going viral for a reason. @MrsAMartini

On Saturday, June 17, I was on a Lyft ride in Washington, D.C. that made me fear for my safety. My driver missed numerous turns, prolonging my ride. In the midst of D.C. traffic, he almost hits a car and slams on his breaks, stopping about a foot from the car in front of him-

This is America. Run, Hide, or Fight. We really have to be prepared to encounter a mass shooting when we leave our homes. Do the people in charge not realize the absurdity of this?

The Republican Party platform: - we don’t like what you read, we will ban it - we don’t like what you have to say, we will silence you - we don’t like the choices you make for yourself, we will eliminate your right to choose - we don’t like how you vote, we will stop you

While they may look the same, accessibility for manual wheelchair users and accessibility for power wheelchair users are different, and they both need to be talked about. Thread🧵
