Had a fantastic time in Carlsbad for CZI's Single-Cell Biology Annual Meeting, jam-packed with stellar science and wonderful people. As an ECR, it was especially great to connect with experts in the field and meet fellow Next-Gen Researcher awardees. Thank you @cziscience!!
My thesis submission felt like a rather underwhelming end to my PhD, so it was nice to officially celebrate being #PhDone last week! #UnimelbAlumni
Been a while since I updated here. Highlights:
- Finished my PhD and got my degree March this year (@minouye271 @asalim_hint 🙏)
- Joined @ee_reh_neh's lab as a postdoc (soon moving to @SVIResearch)
- My 2nd manuscript is out now! nature.com/articles/s42003-0…

We've also performed validation on the Geuvadis dataset in the published version of the paper, demonstrating RGStraP's utility in capturing genetic structure across populations

My 2nd preprint is up!
We demonstrated a straightforward technique of capturing 🧬 structure solely from RNAseq data, which can then be used to control for population stratification in downstream analyses

🎉 New paper! 🎉
How to estimate the carbon footprint of computations, in practice? With @minouye271, we discuss the different options in this Comment just out in @MethodsPrimers

Hope everyone had a good break. Just realized that the first paper from my PhD is finally published! 😅🎉

In conclusion, our paper (biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…) demonstrates population structure can be directly inferred and controlled using RNAseq data, facilitating improved retrospective and future analyses of transcriptomic data.

Pleased to announce our latest work is now live at Nature Metabolism (@natmetabolism), in which we show polygenic risk scores (PRS) can be used to identify novel and causal proteins underlying disease risk.
