CELEBRATING OUR OWN: AGGIE DENNETT HARMON 2026 INTERNATIONAL PRIDE AWARD RECIPIENT
Uganda National Trans Forum (UNTF) proudly celebrates our member @aggiedennett for receiving the 2026 International Pride Award Celebrating Diverse Lives, presented by UNDP and ILGA World during the WorldPride Human Rights Conference in Amsterdam.
This global recognition celebrates Aggie’s courageous leadership and commitment to championing the protection, freedom and equality of trans, gender-diverse and intersex people.
As a Ugandan trans pastor, advocate, and community leader, Aggie has consistently created spaces of healing, dignity, and belonging for LGBTIQ+ communities, particularly trans women who experience violence, displacement, stigma, and exclusion. Through community organizing, psychosocial and trauma-informed support, harm reduction, faith, storytelling, and advocacy, she continues to demonstrate what transformative, community-led leadership looks like.
For us at UNTF, this recognition carries profound significance. When one of our members is recognized on the global stage, our entire movement is seen. It affirms the leadership, resilience, and contributions of transgender people in Uganda who continue organizing, caring for their communities, and advancing equality despite an increasingly challenging environment.
Aggie, we celebrate you not only for receiving this prestigious award but also for the lives you continue to touch, the spaces you create for others to belong, and the courage with which you continue to lead.
Your achievement reminds us that trans leadership from Uganda belongs on the global stage.
Congratulations, Aggie Dennett Harmon! 🏳️⚧️👏🏾
May this recognition strengthen your work and inspire even more trans and gender-diverse leaders across Uganda, Africa, and beyond.
All of us at the Uganda National Trans Forum are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone with you.

She called for an end to the criminalization that continues to target people living with HIV and survivors of gender-based violence, emphasizing that punitive laws deepen stigma, exclusion, and barriers to care.

Meanwhile, with everything going on in the world, Shanitah, aka Bad Black, recently got a BBL to add a little more volume to her bum. It's still healing, and she jokingly shared that she's not supposed to sit yet not even in a car and can only sleep on her tummy. Rich people problems. 🤣 @BadblackSin

The Board of Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) announces that Eunice Musiime will step down as Executive Director, effective 30th May 2026, after 10 years of visionary, feminist, and transformative leadership.
Eunice has led AMwA with brilliance, courage, and unwavering feminist commitment. Under her leadership, AMwA has strengthened its role as a Pan-African feminist leadership development organisation, supporting women leaders through the African Women’s Leadership Institute (AWLI), advancing women’s political participation, SRHR, and championing economic and social justice across the continent.
The AMwA board has appointed Carmeliza Rosario and Sarah Nannyondo Okello, both nestled in the soul and rhythm of AMwA's work, as interim co-directors for nine months.
Transitions are part of the rhythm of feminist organising. Eunice’s departure is not an ending, but a continuation of the collective journey. Her leadership has left AMwA stronger, more resilient, and more deeply rooted in African feminist wisdom.
We invite our partners, allies and sisters across the continent and the diaspora to join us in celebrating Eunice Musiime’s extraordinary contribution.

Last week, we made history. TYI-Uganda, in collaboration with @transforumug and @UKPC_UG hosted THE STATE OF TRANS SRHR IN UGANDA 2026, the first national conference in Uganda to address trans health across HIV, TB, malaria, and SRHR. 4–5 March | Kampala
Trans and gender-diverse people from all four regions of Uganda came together to document health barriers, share what’s working, and build consensus on what we need from the health system. Our evidence. Our voices. Our asks.
On Day 2, we presented our findings directly to UNAIDS, Ministry of Health program leads, TASO Uganda, HRAPF, and development partners.
For the first time, trans and gender-diverse communities sat at the table with the program leaders and spoke with one voice.
What we produced:
• The first community-generated evidence base on trans health in Uganda
• Regional findings from Central, Western, Eastern, and Northern Uganda
• Priority recommendations to MoH across HIV, TB, malaria, and SRHR
• A Community Position Paper (coming soon)
There is no disaggregated data on trans health in Uganda. Not in HIV, not in TB, and not in malaria. That changes now.
Thank you to our partners: @UKPC_UG @hrapf_uganda, Ark Wellness Hub, Ice Breakers Uganda, Alive Medical Services,UHAI-EASHRI, LINK Partners, and every trans and gender-diverse institution that showed up.
And to every trans and gender-diverse person who shared their story, you are the reason this exists. This is not the end; it is the beginning. Follow-up is in progress. The Community Position Paper will be released within four weeks. Accountability reviews will occur at 1, 3, and 6 months.
This work is implemented under the Gender Equality Fund, an initiative established by The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in partnership with GSK and ViiVHealthcare to support gender-transformative and community-led health responses.
Nothing about us, without us.
