MPs have BACKED @sarahjolney1's Lib Dem bill on electoral reform. This is a historic day for fair votes.
Today, as we have done for a century, Liberal Democrats are leading the fight for fair votes and making sure that no one can be ignored in our democracy.
Fixing our broken electoral system, introducing fair votes, and making sure everyone's voice matters is the best way to rebuild trust in our politics.
We are grateful to all MPs who have backed our call. The government must now listen to the will of the House, make time for the legislation and make fairer a votes a reality and we will be holding their feet to the fire to make this happen.
MPs will today vote on @sarahjolney1's bill, which would introduce electoral reform and proportional representation to elections in England.
Following years of the Conservatives’ denigrating standards in public life, we urgently need to restore the public’s trust in politics. Fixing our voting system is a perfect start.
First Past the Post is not fit for purpose. We believe every vote should count equally. We are calling for Labour MPs to vote with their own members and back this Bill.
Lib Dems believe councils are crucial in unlocking communities' potential
But Labour @ExeterCouncil cut vital services eg. community grants, street cleansing & @ExeterCAB

Let's make the #CANBill happen!
Passed its 1st reading today & has a broad coalition of support from all major parties. But both #Exeter's MPs (@steve_race & @David__Reed) are yet to back it.
You CAN make a difference! RT & email your MP to urge support: action.zerohour.uk

ALT YES WE CAN Pass the Climate and Nature Act. "The CAN bill recognises the scope, scale, and kind of action required. I urge Exeter's MPs in the strongest possible terms to put party politics aside and back this historic legislation to save our future." -Will Aczel, former Lib Dem MP Candidate for Exeter. Deeply disappointing our motion for WFP pause & rethink was rejected by @exeterlabour en-bloc last night.
They will let pensioners go cold this Winter. Challenging for pensioners to claim & leaves many on wrong side of the line for vital support.

ALT Over 18,000 pensioners in Exeter will lose the Winter Fuel payment. This change was not in the Labour Party election manifesto and hits pensioners without advance notice at the same time as energy prices will increase by 10% this Winter. It was very disappointing the Labour Group on Exeter City Council voted down this motion en-bloc.

Proud to attend and speak at the @Right_2Roam @EveryonesStars rally outside of the Supreme Court today. Access to nature is a fundamental necessity for all of us. It’s a tragedy that this principle must be tested, yet again, in the court room.

Better bus infrastructure not only improves the reliability of buses, it also improves blue light response times, taxi costs, and cycling safety.

Ed: asks emotional question about what advice Starmer would give a full-time carer forced back into work to earn enough to care for his wife - now set to lose winter fuel payments.
Starmer: the Tories crashed the economy! We need to stabilise it by letting old people go cold.

Lib Dem leader Ed Davey asks the PM what advice he has for pensioners facing rising heating bills this winter
Keir Starmer says the government has taken “tough decisions” to “stabilise the economy”, but will put "all the support in that we can"

The Erasmus Scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to study, teach and volunteer abroad.
The new Government should be more ambitious about rebuilding stronger relationships with our European neighbours.
This site could serve so many much needed purposes - including hosting a market, performance venue, or social housing.
But Labour are taking steps to make it a car park.. despite the impending climate crisis & 6 within 500m with plenty spare capacity. 1/3

The news comes as @ExeterCouncil sets plans to hike already high parking charges across #Exeter.
Car parks are one of ECC's few revenue raising powers. Make no mistake, this is a cash grab by Labour following their wasted millions & new govt's refusal to fix council funding. 2/3

And yet, prices could rise by nearly £600 next year.
