We recently wrapped up a workshop focused on Joint Application Package (JAP) for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in Kenya. The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including the @MOH_Kenya, @EduMinKenya, @WHO and partners, @EvidenceAction, @Amref_Kenya, @AIHDKENYA, and Clinton Health Access Initiative.
Here’s what we accomplished:
⏺️Finalized the 2026 Joint Request for Selected PC Medicines (JRSM), a critical tool that helps estimate the medicine needs for Mass Drug Administration (MDA) efforts.
⏺️Developed the Financial Implementation Unit (IU) Planner, ensuring proper funding allocation for MDA activities across endemic counties.
⏺️Facilitated collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education to harmonize MDA data, which will ensure targeted and efficient resource allocation for schistosomiasis (SCH) and soil-transmitted helminths (STH) treatment.
⏺️Established a 3-year forecast for albendazole, mebendazole and praziquantel, extending to 2028, ensuring we have the financial and strategic roadmap to meet future MDA needs.
The workshop aligned sectors and refined Kenya’s NTD treatment strategy, creating a more coordinated, data-driven approach to ensure efficient resource use and readiness for the upcoming MDA later this year.
