𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐚| The President of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP), H.E. Dr Fateh Boutbig, paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), Rt. Hon. Joseph Ntakirutimana, in Arusha, where both leaders were attending the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The Pan-African Parliament President was accompanied by Hon. Djidda Mamar Mahamat, Third Vice President of the Pan-African Parliament.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the continental Parliament and regional parliamentary bodies such as EALA. The leaders discussed moving beyond occasional exchanges and ceremonial engagements towards a more structured relationship—one in which the work and perspectives of regional parliaments can inform the Pan-African Parliament’s deliberations and contribute to closer institutional coordination.
The discussions align with the Pan-African Parliament’s mandate to promote the programmes and objectives of the African Union in Member States, and to promote the coordination and harmonisation of policies, measures, programmes and activities of Africa’s Regional Economic Communities and parliamentary fora.
Both sides underscored the value of closer collaboration in advancing shared continental and regional priorities.
