Last year, 90 of our neighbors died without housing. Ending chronic homelessness is within reach, but will not happen without increased funding for proven best practices like PSH and homelessness prevention. The Way Home Campaign calls on Mayor Bowser to make bold investments to ensure our neighbors have the housing they need to thrive.

Invest $36.6m to fund 1,260 units of Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness; Invest $22.8m to fund 580 Units of Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) for Families; Create a fund to cover PSH move-in expenses. Outreach, Prevention, & Diversion. Invest $6.4 million to fully restore and expand outreach capacity of the Coordinated Street Outreach Network (CSON); Invest $1.75 million in Project Reconnet; Maintain $1 million funding for DC Flex.

The Cold Weather Emergency is now through Sunday, 1/21. Harbor Light, Faith United, Church of Epiphany & St. Josephine will operate overnight (7pm-7am). All other overflow sites will continue to operate 24 hours/day through Monday 1/22 at 7am. Low-barrier shelters operate 24/7.

On May 30 (this coming Tuesday), the @councilofdc takes their final vote on the budget for the upcoming fiscal year. So far, the council has only funded a fraction of what's needed. If we truly want to end chronic homelessness, we need more from this year's #DCBudget.
The DC Council took their first budget vote on May 16th for the 2024 Budget. They take their final vote on May 30th.
