Three questions your website homepage should answer in under 10 seconds:
What do you do?
Who is it for?
Why you and not someone else?
Most homepages don't clearly answer any of them. That's what I fix.
After seven years of writing, website copy is my favorite kind of project.
The stakes are real. It has to work, not just read well.
And there's something satisfying about a small number of words carrying that much weight.
If your website copy sounds like your competitors', it's doing you more harm than good.
Sameness doesn't build interest or trust. It just makes price the deciding factor.
Just wrapped the copy for a 7-page website for an architecture firm.
The most challenging part is also my favorite part: finding the exact word that carries the whole message.
Close doesn't cut it. The right word either lands or it doesn't.

That’s why I want to share a challenge my friend Samar Owais is running.
It’s called the Ready, Set, Reboot! Freelance Challenge.
It’s a free 5-day reset for freelancers who’ve been working for a while, have paying clients, but feel like their growth has stalled.

🚨 BREAKING: New Jersey just dropped the most aggressive anti-freelancer law I've ever seen in 14 years of labor policy work.
Here's why every independent contractor should be worried... 🧵

It is astonishing that these union leaders continue to claim they’re fighting to protect non-union workers by pushing Congress to pass the PRO Act—which is based on California’s AB5 law that destroyed people’s incomes and careers in 600+ professions.
We’re filing these lawsuits...supporting the PRO Act...the Public Freedom to Negotiate Act for public service workers...mobilize union members, but also workers who aren't in unions
The leader of a major government union outlines their strategy to battle Trump federal cuts—And says Elon Musk has ‘no clue’ about workers

The Dems are on the wrong side of yet another 80/20 issue with California's AB5 and the federal PRO Act.

“If distributors were forced to hire previously considered independent contractors as employees ... a large number of independent salespeople would be without work, as the distributors would not have the financial wherewithal to hire them as employees.”

Every single one of us, at this very minute, has the right to take a job as an employee and vote to join a union.
Lawmakers posting this kind of stuff should be ashamed of themselves. In reality, the PRO Act threatens everyone's right to hang out a shingle and be our own boss.
This week, we introduced the #PROAct! This bipartisan bill protects the right of all workers to join a union and bargain collectively for higher wages, better benefits and safer working conditions. As a member of the @Labor_Caucus, I will never stop fighting for workers in Congress.

“The ABC test makes it very difficult for someone to work as an independent contractor… Nationwide implementation would forcibly reclassify millions of workers who routinely say they do not want a traditional employee relationship...” nam.org/nam-allies-reject-re…

I fixed it for them.
Today, we reintroduced the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act!
As co-chair of the @Labor_Caucus, I am excited to co-sponsor this bill again because every American deserves the freedom to organize and collectively bargain.

Call me old school, but I still enjoy when a client sends me a physical check.
How many of your clients still pay by check rather than ACH, credit card, etc.?
