I didn’t realize how deeply being left out shaped me until I noticed I hesitate to join anything unless someone directly invites me.
And even then, I still wonder if they actually wanted me there or were just tolerating me.
That’s not shyness. That’s what growing up on the outside does to a nervous system.

Every Twitter discourse about ADHD ignores the ‘executive functioning and regulation’ aspect of it. Which is driving me CRAZY

What ADHD discourse always boils down to is a bunch of people with less severe adhd telling people with more intensive adhd that they’re stupid idiots and then neurotypical pile on.
(from replies) im realising neurotypical ppl are actually *terrified* of the idea that ADHD is real.
if being late isnt a moral failure, if being disorganised can be out of your control, then their cruelty towards the failing and ego about their own success are threatened.

There is a strange loneliness in being able to notice everyone else’s emotional weather while rarely feeling like anyone notices yours.

but being chronically early is never seen as an issue even though the fear of being late ruins my day to the point where when i have appointments or events, my whole day is messed up and i can't properly plan around the time i need to be somewhere

This person doesn't even understand what the phrase learned helplessness refers to.
Learned helplessness is a phenomena in which a living being stops trying to escape a painful stimulus because past experiences with that stimulus taught them their actions do not matter. 🧵
Gen Z normalized "bed rotting" as self-care, but ADHD bed rotting hits different. You aren't relaxing. You are actively trapped in a mental prison of task paralysis where you want to get up and do your hobbies, but your brain’s ignition switch is completely disconnected.

So pull the fucking plug. It's a computer
BREAKING: Heads of major AI firms warn the UN that without intervention, "AI could be a risk to humanity as a whole". apnews.com/article/ai-artifi…
all this fucking adhd discourse boils down to the same thing: shut up and do the thing like everyone else and struggle quietly, because we don't want to have to notice you.
piss off with your alarms and your privileged lives that let you get medication and help so that you can be the perfect, acceptable version of a person with a disability and leave the rest of us who are doing our fucking best to even function alone.
