See you there? It's a bit like olde worlde Twitter really. Forward to 2013! #bluesky
So easy to get disillusioned with football what with Infantino, Manchester City and so on. And then @BerkoFC get an unexpected win at Southend and reach the FA Cup first round proper for the first time. The joy of their supporters is quite uplifting. Football is still magical
So what exactly just happened…..
@BerkoFC are into the 1st round proper of @EmiratesFACup after beating National League @SUFCRootsHall 2-1 away.
What a performance from the boys.
Unbelievable this team, this club 🔥
I'm at Transmission tonight and the DJ set is brilliant. Totally loved the mashuo of Mad World, A Forest and Bela Lugosi's Dead
Such sad news about Suki founder of the first and best of the Black Country's desi pubs, The Vine. RIP.
SotN here. A quite stunning cover version of Shipbuilding by Robert Wyatt

OK, there is something very, very weird going on in the press right now.
It certainly appears, from the outside, as if certain people are being very much protected in a way that was not afforded to certain other people!
Let's start with the facts around Lola Salem...

Ed King of Lynyrd Skynyrd was a Californian who had earlier been in West Coast psychedelic band Strawberry Alarm Clock. There could hardly be two more different bands #40hitsfrom1976

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

The original version of Amoureuse by Veronique Sanson is wonderful - although Kiki Dee's will always be my first love (actually a really good rendering of the original French) SotN for me #dlxp
Sad news. Manchester United fans of a certain vintage may remember him playing for Montpellier against them in the 1990-91 Cup Winners Cup.

Just a few years ago, if anyone had suggested the entire British population would need to show a government ID to use the internet, they’d be laughed at and reminded that the UK is not a totalitarian state.
Yet here we are….
Exclusive:
Social media companies will be required to implement “hard checks” on people’s ages such as demanding passports or driving licences under plans to stop children from using their platforms
The government is due to announce plans for a social media ban for under-16s in the coming weeks amid concerns that children are being exposed to harmful content
Ministers want to take a harder line on age verification to ensure that children are not using the platforms after concerns that a similar social media ban in Australia has had little impact
Under plans being considered by ministers, those using the sites will be required to submit their passports or driving licences or undergo credit checks to verify their age
The Australian government admitted this year that more than 70 per cent of under-16s still had “some access” to platforms three months after the law changed in December 2025
Children reported that it was “easy” to circumvent the ban. They are only required to undergo basic screening — where users take a selfie and artificial intelligence estimates their age — to access platforms if they do not wish to upload official documents. In the most brazen cases, children were able to bypass the restrictions by drawing beards onto their faces
Others have resorted to using virtual private networks (VPNs) to bypass checks by pretending they are based in another country, or pointing their phone’s camera at a screen showing an adult-looking face

A weekend when both the Conservatives and the Greens showed themselves not to be serious political parties was a good one for Andy Burnham. To use a football analogy it's like one of those Saturdays when other teams' result mean you go up 2 places in the league without playing.
And on the day I had lunch in Ross on Wye this classic from Mott the Hoople is quite appropriate #potp
I was 11 when I first heard Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on Round Table. I loved it. I still do #potp
Great show. Thanks Alan and thanks all for some fab requests. Have a good week and see you all next time #sts70s
SotN right here. This is the best version of Woodstock imo because it has an ethereal dreaminess that other versions lack. It's wonderful. #sts70s
And now let us hail another Brummie genius, the late Lol Mason #sts70s
