and very honoured to sponsor @JamesRice21 for his baptism and confirmation. Great day all round!
Baptism and confirmations on Whitsunday 2024 at St Lawrence. Amazing solemn Te Deum at the end by the choir, too. It's great to see everything come together after so much hard work by different people.

as ever, confused by the "Anglo-Saxons were orthodox" crowd. I don't believe I have ever read anything that suggested this. Is this argument just pushed by people seeking some kind of continuity and justification for being English + orthodox? Or is it Orthodox = not modern RC?

Sir Roger Scruton ran an illegal underground university behind the Iron Curtain in communist Czechoslovakia at enormous personal risk in the 70s and 80s. For this *alone* he was a hero and more virtuous than any other public intellectual or commentator we have now.
I remember reading this "intellectual giant" of conservatism and was genuinely shocked by just how low the quality of thought was. Pathetic, vile little psued who deserves to be promptly forgotten

The French situation should be especially sobering for Britons because the French state has getting on for 50% more officers available than we do, for a near-identical population, and they still seem unable or unwilling to keep the peace.

France, three weeks apart. A Christian theology of 'principalities and powers' should leave us unsurprised that a phenomenal Papal visit is soon followed by violence and destruction. France was reminded by the Pope of the values of God's kingdom; its opponents are responding.

Fidelium at the V&A! A visit led by the Rev’d Dr Lyanne Beckerson and the Rev’d Dr Peter Anthony to explore sacred vestments and textiles, and see the Langham Madonna, thought by many to be the original image of Our Lady of Walsingham. Thank you to our excellent guides!

The death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person. The common good can be safeguarded and the requirements of justice can be met without recourse to capital punishment: effective systems of detention have been developed that protect citizens while at the same time do not completely deprive those who are guilty of the possibility of redemption. #NoDeathPenalty

I cannot abide this endless parade of Tory ex-PMs impotently advocating for Based policy and saying that they tried really hard to do it in office, but it would have meant upsetting the civil service & passing legislation so what can you do?
Critics said it was fantasy that we could leave the ECHR and secure our border. The real fantasy is thinking there’s an alternative thetimes.com/comment/columni…
