Fumiko Esashi Lab at @Dunn_School, @UniofOxford. Curious about DNA repair, replication and chromosome segregation, the things that make us who we are.

Ever wonder what’s happening at centromeres in resting cells? Our latest study, led by @xssaayman and in collab with @nussenza, demonstrates striking enrichment of DNA breaks at centromeres in quiescent human cells. Excited to share this work @MolecularCell now!

Thank Dr. Wan for an exciting talk. This week, Dr. Fumiko Esashi @EsashiLab will discuss centromere instability. Sign up and check out the 2nd half of the year schedule at cancer.columbia.edu/research…
We are delighted to share our latest work, characterising the role of BRCA2 and its binding partner PALB2 at centromeres, just out in the latest issue of Cell Reports.

This study, conceived 8 years ago, was made possible by a global collab across the UK, USA, Japan and Turkey. The team efforts of Emily and Lucia, relayed by Brian, Jacob, Emoke and Ramazan @rguendogdu, and invaluable assistance from many others, brought this research to life.
Huge thanks to everyone involved and the support from the community. We will be moving to another place 🦋- follow us there (@esashilab.bsky.social) if you are curious about what is going on in the Esashi lab!

We are pleased to inform you that the meeting “From Genome Instability to Cancer: A tribute to Angelos Constantinou” that will take place in Carry-Le-Rouet from March 10th to March 13th 2025 is now open for registration on the link: tribute2angelos.fr/page/home…
Great pleasure to share our unusual review article, discussing DNA repair in quiescent cells, out now online bit.ly/3McCj5e
We find interesting DNA repair mechanisms that are regulated differently in quiescent cells. Excellent work by two talented PhD students, Brian and Jacob, who have contributed equally. There is definitely a lot more to learn and we welcome any feedback you may have!
This is our contribution to the Special Issue 'Cutting Edge Perspectives in Genome Maintenance XI' @repair_dna, edited by Penny Jeggo. We thank Penny for this great opportunity!
