How are you supposed to make political change happen if your MP isn’t fighting for what you believe in? #EqualVotingPower #ProportionalRepresentation

The general public's obliviousness to the distortion of First Past the Post is so discouraging.
People will complain having to vote strategically, then stop short of mentioning it only happens under FPTP.
They'll talk about "voting their heart" as if that works under FPTP

Eby lost this election through multiple egregious mistakes, arrogance & lack of political skill.
But we also need to see his catastrophic loss as proof of what happens when "progressives" swing to the right.
Eby is not the first centrist to be shown this.

Majority of BC voters will voter for NDP+Greens. But system will deliver a conservative govt. The wonderful gift of Canada's broken and outdated electoral system.

First Past the Post really is a vile electoral system. It's built on blackmail.
"No, you can't have your vote represented in govt.
Yes, we will hold a gun to your head to vote for the lesser evil who betrayed you, and if that lesser evil loses, we will blame you"
Pro rep now.

Emily Lowan says if she and the Greens held the balance of power, she would aim to bring in proportional representation. #bcpoli

I guess you always knew the vote splitting question was coming, but she handled it well.
And she’s right about the pro rep referendum. The BCNDP sabotaged that referendum and Eby was key in it.
I also like how she mentioned parties should earn your vote. Because they should.

More than 6 in 10 people in Holborn and St Pancras stayed at home yesterday.
Of those who voted, more than 50% didn't get the representation they asked for.
Regardless of who you supported, we can hopefully all agree: we deserve a better democracy.

BREAKING: A top GOP official in Texas says, "It looks like we f*cked ourselves with gerrymandering. We watered down all the red districts to steal as many blue ones as possible, and now because voters turned against us we'll lose many more seats than if we hadn't tried to cheat."
“Who wields power depends heavily on where votes are cast rather than who people vote for.
The question isn’t whether PR is perfect, but whether we can design a system in which parliament reflects the votes people actually cast.”

Promising proportional representation and then not delivering it is getting old
Perhaps CAQ won't be the last party with regrets on that score

I love that everyone in this country gets proportional representation waved in their face at some point and just turns around and laughs at us when in power
