1,404 $QUBIC wallets were drained overnight. The attacker still cannot spend a single coin of it, and how that happened is the part worth understanding. Here is what Qubic has confirmed so far. What went wrong, in plain English. Your seed is the master key to your wallet. It is supposed to be so random that nobody could ever guess it. Some Qubic seeds were not random enough. Think of a lock that should have billions of combinations but had far fewer, so the attacker could simply try them. Qubic says the flaw was in how those seeds were created, not in the Qubic network itself. Computors, the operators who run the network, coordinated a halt. No transactions are processing, so the stolen funds are stuck where they are. Never left the network, frozen in place: 87.1% Sent to MEXC, frozen within about an hour: 12.9% Exchanges have also suspended QUBIC deposits and withdrawals while this is resolved. The weak seed bug is fixed in version 4.26.4, so no new weak seeds can be created. What happens to the funds is now up to the Computor quorum. The core team is identifying every affected wallet and preparing options, and a community poll is open on Discord. Now the honest part. The response was fast, and containing nearly all of it is rare in crypto hacks. But a network that can be halted to freeze funds is also a network a small group can stop. That power just protected users, and every holder should understand it exists. If you were affected, Qubic asks you to file a police or cybercrime report with your wallet ID, the amount lost, and the transaction link. Formal reports help exchanges keep the funds frozen. If your seed came from one of those devices, my view is to move to a fresh seed on the fixed version once the network is back. And nobody from Qubic will message you first, ask for your seed, or charge you for recovery. Anyone who does is the second attacker. Fast containment earns trust. A clean resolution is what keeps it.
