Rising fuel prices are driving interest in cost-saving opportunities. But before changing diesel fuels, users should confirm compatibility to protect engine performance, emissions systems, warranties and regulatory compliance.

Diesel Fuel State of Emergency!
Executive orders and state policies seeking to provide relief from higher prices by allowing highway vehicles to use ultra low sulfur diesel for nonroad use (i.e. no highway taxes of $0.244/gal) are now in place, with more states taking action each day.
But the devil is in the details... the Trump EO says deferral not elimination of taxes. Will truckers will have to pay up for the highway tax on the number of gallons of red dyed diesel they used during this period?
Trump’s action doesn’t do anything for relief of state diesel fuel tax laws. A growing number of states have taken their own steps to allow highway vehicles to use dyed diesel in their states including but not limited to Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Some come with very specific conditions.
Effective dates and times are all over the place. The EO goes through 12/31/2026. Nebraska's dyed fuel relief goes through December 23, 2026; Georgia is thru November 5; Tennessee is just during October... and so on.
And the relief can be very conditional, for example NE relief only applies to the transportation of NE ag products. Can general freight truckers that fill up in NE and travel out of state without shipping any NE ag products?. Are they still be liable for reimbursing the state portion of the tax for off road fuel purchased?
Enforceability is a big concern. IRS enforcement is covered under the Trump EO, but how will state enforcement work in states that don’t offer the relief when red dye shows up in the truck tank?
Other twists.... TX Governor Greg Abbott's received an EPA waiver under the Clean Air Act for the state implementation plan allowing the use of Low Sulfur Diesel (500ppm or less sulfur vs. 15 ppm or less ultra low sulfur diesel)and not requiring the TX low emissions diesel to be used in 110 Texas counties. Only highway engines manufactured before 2007 can use this higher sulfur fuel due to the damage to emissions controls on 2007 and newer models. According to Engine Technology Forum data, 73% of medium and heavy duty diesel trucks operating in TX today are 2010 and newer generation with advanced emissions controls.
Stay tuned- the diesel fuel situation is far from any conclusion.

Thank you @DepSecVaden for highlighting the billions of $$ invested in rural America because of the #RFS.
Proud to join @CHSInc and @RepVanOrden for the groundbreaking on a new $700 million soybean crush facility in Evansville, WI. This new plant—made possible by @POTUS' record biofuel blending volumes—will consume 80 million soybean bushels annually and produce 2 million pounds of soybean oil to power American energy dominance. Thank you, @CHSInc, for another pro-farmer investment in rural America.🇺🇸

Clean Fuels is proud to support this week’s @FPShow as the official sponsor of the #biodiesel fueling demonstration tractors.
While onsite, our team has been sharing the benefits of biodiesel and important fuel handling guidelines informed by @JohnDeere's B30 project. This collaboration is helping demonstrate how higher biodiesel blends can perform successfully in today’s off-road and ag equipment while giving farmers an opportunity to use more of the renewable fuel made from the crops they grow.
Hear from @BiodieselTech (Scott Fenwick) for an update from the show and what this work means for the future of biodiesel.

Right there is the last of the ‘26 harvest for Aidra Farms. Thankful for a very good crop, excellent service from the equipment and most of all, tireless effort from our tiny family crew.
Hope everyone else gets finished during this decent stretch of weather
