This Winter I got to talk about Green Burial on VPR endingwell.wordpress.com/201…
Quality > Quantity
Have you ever thought about how old you'd like to be when you die? I chatted with a little girl recently who told me she wanted to live to be 100 years old! So cute. And yet most people… instagram.com/p/BurX5_DgOMZ/…
I always enjoy speaking with Ken Picard of @sevendaysvt This time it was about human composting (a la @recomposelife) and its possible future in Vermont. Glad to see @GreenBurialVT get mentioned too. sevendaysvt.com/vermont/wtf-…

Retweeting this. Looking for resources on non-death-related disenfranchised grief. i.e. after someone is incarcerated, experiencing a sudden traumatic injury... suggestion very much needed and very much appreciated #grief
Hey my #grief and #bereavement specialists I’m crowd sourcing for resources on non-death related, #disenfranchisedgrief (think incarceration, addiction, mental and traumatic illness/disability). Any help most appreciated- please share widely.
When circumstances change, can you say to yourself “now I am here” and embrace it? This question is central to values-based, quality-of-life framework I help my clients develop in my planning and doula work
What's the one trait I've noticed in my work as a death doula that makes the process of disease and death a smidgereen more gentle? Adaptability: the ability to adapt to a new… instagram.com/p/BuJ2_J4gZZ_/…

The most useful thing I’ve leaned re: talking about death with a child is to let them explain to you what they understand first- that gives you the framework to navigate the conversation. That and remember even older children may lack the vocab to express what they feel&need
Screenshot this, save it, add it to your collections. Most of us at some point will have to explain death to a child and its no easy feat to explain that which you don’t understand… instagram.com/p/BuEyXgAADLl/…
So often the veterinary community leads the way in #DeathPositive practices. I’d love to see signs like these in hospitals and nursing homes!
@adeathmidwife this made me think of you and your story of bringing your dog’s body home afterwards. I wish people knew what they could advocate for when beloved pets (and people) die!
I’ve met @thedeathtivals and heard her speak. I believe her story, and this book, is a necessary addition to #deathliterature If you follow me, you know I don’t really promote things other than idea so take my word for when I say you won’t regret pledging to support this book
I’m writing a book for Unbound/Penguin in which I travel to seven death festivals. Where?
✅Mexico
✅Nepal
✅Sicily
Thailand
Japan
Indonesia
Madagascar
Next stop: my dad’s place, Thailand.
Preorder the book on @unbounders, or check out the trailer:

Hey #vtpoli folks, how do we get the powers that be to invest in providing personal support to our isolated elderly? @MichaelDFratkin has
proven that it makes a positive difference so let’s use his model here. As a #deathdoula and #hospice volunteer I can attest to the need.

Some of the most beautiful #cremationjewelry I’ve ever seen

Replying to @QuinceMountain
We met Erica, who makes some gorgeous pendants with cremains of beloved pets and humans. The pics I took do not do them justice, but I think my mom will really feel good (and relieved, in a way), if I have one of these made from her cat's ashes. Not much space in nursing home.
“What does love look like in the face of death?”- @goinggracefully
What does love look like in the face of death? I'm asking today, not because of this bogus holiday (which I happen to love), but rather because of how often it shows up in my work… instagram.com/p/Bt37rDCgpls/…
Here in Vermont the aging population faces similar isolation and financial challenges. We need to do more to build community to support people. @MichaelDFratkin has some of the most innovative ideas for those with internet, but we need more human-to-human solutions too
Maine has the nation’s oldest median age…and some of its poorest people.

I just think talking about death and dying is sad and morbid, I don’t understand how people make a living doing stuff like that without getting depressed.

Who will I see there?!?
Did you hear? Oct 4-6 will be the dates of the 2019 #NHFA conference - Look out #minneapolis, we're coming for your dead! #ritualofcare #homefuneral #deathpositive
Sure, once they actually follow thru on paying their migrant dairy workers a living wage... #milkwithdignity
