ALT Graphic with a grey background. Text on a pink rectangle on a purple rectangle reads: 'Girls feel less confident and safe because of the consistent sexism and oppression they face. This is happening more often and in several different ways, such as through abusive speech on social media and in public spaces, and impacts all girls and young women, especially those from marginalised groups. The increase in sexism and misogyny in the past 10 years means there is now a greater need to end gender-based violence and empower girls so that they can live freely and thrive without any barriers.
