Just 6 years left to meet target to protect 30% of England's land & sea for nature by 2030⌛️
Our latest update shows giant strides are needed, as protected land falls to 2.93% while sea lags at 9.92% 🥀
We need a rescue plan for nature🚨

Great to see @DefraGovUK respond to hedgerow protection consultation. If existing Hedgerows Regulations (1997) are being amended for this, why not inc local landscape criterion to protect EVEN more hedgerows? @CPRE
We’re protecting English hedgerows in law, supporting the vital work many farmers already carry out to protect hedgerows.
The ecological benefits include:
🐦creating wildlife habitats,
🐝supporting crop pollinators
🌱absorbing carbon

This is a step in the right direction for access to our national parks and AONBs.
But we want to see the government back its ambition with funding.
More needs to be done to ensure our most treasured landscapes deliver benefits for all 🏞️
We’ve set out ambitious actions to improve people’s access to nature and safeguard protected landscapes.
