When my youngest daughter, Luna, was 6 years old, she jumped at the idea of driving an RV from Colorado to California to shelter a family who lost their home in the 2018 Camp Fire. In a lot of ways, I was just tagging along. Seven years later — and after sheltering more than 300 families across the United States — here we are. She’s grown up doing this good work… and along the way, I guess I grew up a lot too. See the latest chapter in our journey in the documentary film Humble River… it’s not over, premiering Oct. 15 in Denver. 🎟️ givebutter.com/EmergencyRV_F… #EmergencyRV #DenverEvents #Helene

🫡 Florida’s first responders continue showing up for their communities, even as they navigate the impacts of Hurricane #Isaias on their own homes & families. We’re grateful for their service & remain committed to helping all Floridians recover. 🤝 If you’ve been displaced by storm damage & need temporary shelter, @EmergencyRV is helping connect eligible Florida families with travel trailers while they recover & rebuild. Visit EmergencyRV.org & click the banner at the 🔝 of the page to apply! For additional assistance, visit our one-stop shop for disaster recovery information & resources: 📲 FloridaDisaster.org/Updates.
Since Hurricane Isaias made landfall, we have been working to ensure that those affected by this storm have the assistance they need to get back on their feet. We are operating seven Multi-Agency Resource Centers where Floridians can learn about available assistance and get connected with recovery resources. Thanks to our partnership with Emergency RV, we have started providing travel trailers to Floridians displaced by significant hurricane damage, so they have a safe place to live while they rebuild. We’re also committed to helping the first responders whose homes were impacted by the storm and still showed up to serve their communities. With funding from the Florida Sheriffs Association, we are providing these first responders with $5,000 each to show our gratitude. Schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton counties have reopened and resumed normal operations. We’re grateful for the hard work of school teams, transportation crews, and all our partners who helped make them safe for students and staff. For more information on Hurricane Isaias resources, visit FloridaDisaster.org.

This morning, @GovRonDeSantis announced Florida’s partnership with EmergencyRV to provide RVs as temporary housing for families whose homes have been impacted by Hurricane #Isaias. We’re grateful to the State of Florida and the Florida Division of Emergency Management for recognizing the importance of temporary housing and for partnering with EmergencyRV to help families begin their journey toward recovery. “Thank you for choosing me.” Those were the words Mr. Irizarry said after we delivered his EmergencyRV. Mr. Irizarry was living full-time in his RV in Florida when Hurricane Helene hit. Ten to twelve feet of water inundated his home, destroying the floors, bathroom, kitchen, and septic system. The electrical system failed, taking his heat and air conditioning with it. Then came the roof leaks and the mold. Everything that makes a home livable was gone. Through our partnership with Endeavors, we were connected with Mr. Irizarry, and I’m so glad we were. Welcome home, Mr. Irizarry.

Here is Mr. Woike’s story through the eyes of his case manager at Endeavors, Alisha Linnus. Alisha not only helped connect Mr. Woike with us as he worked toward safety and stability, but also took the time to create and share this video to help tell his story. We are grateful to her for securing the funding that made it possible to transport the EmergencyRV to Mr. Woike. If you’d like to help others on their journey to recovery after disaster, please consider supporting our work at emergencyrv.org Video created by: Alisha Linnus, Endeavors

When Hurricane Helene roared through Florida, a tree fell right onto Mr. Woike’s RV, punching holes through the roof and floor and leaving him living in unsafe conditions. At 75 years old, he shouldn’t have to live that way. We were grateful to be able to deliver Mr. Woike a safe, fully equipped RV and honestly, seeing him and his dog settle into their new home was pretty special. Moments like that are why we do what we do. A huge thank you to Alisha and our partners at Endeavors for connecting us with Mr. Woike and making sure he didn’t fall through the cracks. And thank you to The Hernando County Long-Term Recovery Group for helping cover the costs that made this delivery possible.

Andrea came to us with her beautiful Jayco motorhome and donated it in memory of her late husband Ken. She wanted his memory to live on in the most meaningful way she could think of - by giving a family who has lost everything somewhere safe home. I cannot tell you how much that means to us. Not just the motorhome, but the love and the intention she poured into this decision. Andrea did not have to do this. She chose to. And that choice is going to change a family's life. If you have an RV in good working order to donate, we will provide you with the full appraised value as a tax deduction and you will be helping a family impacted by disaster. We can match you up with a family or we will come pick it up for you. Visit emergencyrv.org to start the donation process.

After Hurricane Helene hit, Mr. Kissinger did everything he could to get back on his feet. He used his FEMA assistance to fix up his own RV but when the time came to move it, the axle snapped. Completely rusted through from the floodwaters and completely immovable, leaving him without options if another evacuation were ever to come. He found temporary shelter through FEMA housing, but anyone who has been through this knows that temporary is not the same as home. What Mr. Kissinger really needed was somewhere safe, permanent, and completely his own. Welcome home Mr. Kissinger. This one is yours.    We have special people to thank for helping make this delivery happen: The Salvation Army, Endeavors, and our EmergencyRV hauler David Cheeseman.

Another delivery coming soon! Luna and I are excited about this one. We are getting this RV down to Beulah, Colorado, the state we call home, to a couple who lost their home in the Aspen Acres fire. There is something extra special about showing up for a family right in your own state. Thank you all for following along on every delivery. Your support means everything to us!

When Hurricane Milton tore through her Florida community, falling tree branches damaged the RV she called home. She was suddenly trying to care for her two young children without a safe place to live. FEMA housing gave her family a temporary place to stay but when that assistance expired, she once again needed somewhere safe to call home. I knew we had to help. Thanks to the @SalvationArmyUS for help with set up and transport costs, and Endeavors and Dana Saddler for making us aware of her housing situation. With their help, we provided an RV at no cost, giving her family a safe place to sleep, regroup, and move forward. But this is bigger than one RV. It’s what happens when we choose to show up for one another. Your support helps us provide safety, stability, and hope to families rebuilding after disaster. Help us keep showing up. Give today at emergencyrv.org.

In the spirit of Dolly Parton Day, 'If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours.' The Timothy family in Alabama did one better. They donated this beautiful RV which will soon be on its way to a family displaced by a natural disaster. If you have an RV in good working order to donate, we will provide you with the full appraised value as a tax deduction and you will be helping a family impacted by disaster. We can match you up with a family or we will come pick it up for you. Visit emergencyrv.org to start the donation process.

Hurricane Helene is not a distant memory for us. We still think about the families who lived through the devastation two years ago and we always will because remembering them is what keeps us showing up for the next family who needs us. None of this is possible without the generosity of our donors and supporters. You did not just donate an unused RV or give money, you gave a Vietnam veteran who had lost everything a brand new home to wake up in on Christmas Day. Help us keep showing up for natural disaster survivors at emergencyrv.org/take-action

Losing your home to a natural disaster is one of the most devastating experiences a family can go through. The first 72 hours are the most critical and the most overwhelming. We put this checklist together because we have met with hundreds of families in these exact moments and we want you to know that there is a path forward and you do not have to find it alone. Save this post. Share it with someone who might need it. If you are displaced by a natural disaster, visit emergencyrv.org to apply for a free EmergencyRV today. #emergencypreparedness #disasterrecovery #emergencyrv #shelter

This beautiful RV was recently picked up by our dedicated hauler, Chris Hall, who spends countless hours on the road helping EmergencyRV get RVs where they need to go. We are incredibly grateful for Chris and for every mile he drives to help us serve veterans, first responders, and families recovering from the loss of their homes after natural disasters. Right now, this RV is a new beginning waiting to happen. We can't wait to see it become home for a family who has lost so much and help make an incredibly difficult time just a little bit easier.

The Jenkins family has a place to call home again. After losing their home in the 74 Fire in Colorado City, CO, the Jenkins family told us they felt invisible and forgotten, and that they didn’t know how they were going to make it through the winter in a tent. Once the initial attention dies down, these families are still there, trying to figure out where they’re going to live and what they’re going to do next. That’s something we want EmergencyRV to change by helping provide one of the most immediate needs after a disaster: a safe place to stay. We want the Jenkins family to know they haven’t been forgotten. There are people who see them, care about what they’re going through, and are willing to show up. Welcome home. ❤️ #emergencyrv #makingadifference #colorado #survivors – at Colorado, USA
