UPDATE from Hurricane. Our next door neighbor met Pat outside this morning and then two of his friends from his Church came and they cleared our circle driveway. It was a great day. Still a ton of trees and debris to get up. But this is a start. Our generator that we have had for 25 years, sprung a gas leak. My son went and got the one out of the Race Trailer in Pensacola, so we are still able to have.

Hazardous Weather Evening Update 10/10/26 Steady rain today has soaked the ground, and more heavy rain tonight could cause flash flooding in the mountains. Storms may form over the same areas, bringing 1–3 inches of rain, and even 6–8 inches on slopes that face southeast. This also raises the risk of landslides, especially near the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Strong winds up to 60 mph are possible in higher elevations tonight and tomorrow. In eastern NC, some places may get up to 6 inches of rain. Severe storms and even tornadoes could form overnight in eastern NC, southern central NC, and the southern foothills. Safety Tips: ⚠️ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings (phone alerts, NOAA Weather Radio, local emergency alerts). 🚧 Never drive through flooded roads — turn around, don’t drown. 🌪️ If a tornado warning is issued, know where your safe shelter location is and get there immediately. 🔋 Charge your devices now in case of power outages. Multiple hazards are expected overnight—stay alert, stay prepared, and stay safe. Readync.gov/Isaias #ReadyNC #IsaiasNC

Flash flooding is likely in the mountains tonight. The Weather Prediction Center has outlined northeast Georgia, the Upstate and the NC Blue Ridge for heavy rain from 6 PM to midnight, with the worst between 8 PM and 2 AM. Moisture from Post-Tropical Cyclone Isaias is pushing up against the mountains, and the ground is already soaked from today's rain. What to expect: • Rain rates over 1" per hour at times • Local totals of 4"+ in the Carolina mountains • Landslides possible on steep slopes in the Blue Ridge • Creeks in the Upstate are already running high Charlotte sits just east of the highest-risk area. Expect rounds of rain here, but the bigger flooding threat is from Hickory and Morganton west into the mountains. If you live along a creek or on a steep slope in the mountains, have a way to get warnings tonight while you sleep. Never drive through water over the road. Turn around, don't drown. #ncwx #scwx #gawx #cltwx #flashflood

Tomorrow night will be a big test for post-Helene WNC; saying I’m a little worried would be an understatement. Really gotta watch how these rain bands set up; hope for the best, but we could definitely be dealing with some Flooding. I’ve tried my best to message the risk. #ncwx

Everyone is a helper. You're not posting into the void. Every report, every resource, every request feeds a live coordination system that connects the right people at the right time. This is what community looks like when it can actually coordinate. Share this. Someone needs it tonight.

HAVE SOMETHING TO GIVE? That's helping. Shelter space. Supplies. Equipment. A chainsaw and a truck. List it as a resource — our agent matches you privately with someone nearby who needs exactly that.

If you’re in the path of Hurricane Isaies: We pulled every active resource, request and community report from X, FB, and other official gov channels into one view. You can add to it, share, or download it ahead of a power outage in your area. Here's how it works: 🧵 sosconnect.org/isaias

When Hurricane Helene roared through Florida, a tree fell right onto Mr. Woike’s RV, punching holes through the roof and floor and leaving him living in unsafe conditions. At 75 years old, he shouldn’t have to live that way. We were grateful to be able to deliver Mr. Woike a safe, fully equipped RV and honestly, seeing him and his dog settle into their new home was pretty special. Moments like that are why we do what we do. A huge thank you to Alisha and our partners at Endeavors for connecting us with Mr. Woike and making sure he didn’t fall through the cracks. And thank you to The Hernando County Long-Term Recovery Group for helping cover the costs that made this delivery possible.

Andrea came to us with her beautiful Jayco motorhome and donated it in memory of her late husband Ken. She wanted his memory to live on in the most meaningful way she could think of - by giving a family who has lost everything somewhere safe home. I cannot tell you how much that means to us. Not just the motorhome, but the love and the intention she poured into this decision. Andrea did not have to do this. She chose to. And that choice is going to change a family's life. If you have an RV in good working order to donate, we will provide you with the full appraised value as a tax deduction and you will be helping a family impacted by disaster. We can match you up with a family or we will come pick it up for you. Visit emergencyrv.org to start the donation process.
